I met Graham and Jennie at their home for a super fun, incredibly adorable engagement session! We had been planning on more of an outdoor shoot, but, as you Montanans may have noticed, the temperatures outside have been a *wee* bit frigid. So, next best thing – baking cookies together (plus a few quick shots outside, too).

Thanks for being so much fun to work with, you two! (And for sharing some of your cookies – yum!) I can’t wait to photograph your wedding!

It was a bitterly cold day for a wedding, but the warmth and depth of Tenis and Svetla’s love was enough to warm everyone’s hearts, even if the lovely, crackling fire hadn’t been around. I had the absolute pleasure of photographing their intimate Double Arrow Lodge wedding. Friends and family stood with them as they said their vows to one another, eyes sparkling in the glow of the firelight, and everyone joined together for a delicious dinner full of laughter and happy toasts.

Tenis and Svetla – thank you for welcoming me to your wedding day – you are wonderful, kind people, and I wish you only love and happiness going forward in your lives together!

Katie and Colin not only love each other devotedly and wholeheartedly – they love the Griz, too. From the maroon bridesmaids’ dresses to a surprise entrance by Monte himself, their wedding spoke to their shared loves, in person and in football. Katie and Colin allowed each other a “first look” prior to their beautiful autumn ceremony, and gazed deeply into one another’s eyes, hands trembling from emotion, as they pledged their love during their wedding vows. Soon the party got started and, to everyone’s surprise, Monte joined in for a bit and got both the bride and groom and guests to get their groove on.

What a great night, you two! Thank you for providing me the pleasure of photographing your wedding day. And, this post wouldn’t be complete without a big, “Go Griz!” Here’s to a long life together!

I had myself a little impromptu photo shoot this morning with some hot-off-the-presses album samples I just received. These are just two examples from this new line I’m offering, and oh boy – they are gorgeous – down to every last detail.

The thick, lay-flat pages means you’ll get an uninterrupted photo spread. (No gutter down the middle!) These pages boast beautiful, true photo prints that are mounted to the lay-flat pages. And the cover options – oh my…they’re just simply stunning. From silks (like the one shown just below) to beautiful textures (like the second one shown) to leathers. (I’ll be getting a few more samples in soon to show off these options.)

You can choose from multiple sizes and page-lengths to fit your budget. (The samples shown below are 12×12 and 6×6 respectively.) To top it off, they’ll be delivered to you in a leather-bound, velvet-lined box for safekeeping. I’m just totally wowed by these albums and am so excited to offer this new line to you, my lovely friends!  (These albums feature the trash the dress session I did with Jen and Kyle, and the portrait session I did with Ali. :) ) Check them out!

P.S. If you’d like to have one of these albums designed, printed, and in your hands before December 23rd, please let me know as soon as you can. (I can also give you more info on your investment when you contact me.) The deadline for me to have designs sent to print is November 22nd, and I’ll need a small amount of time to actually put the design together prior to the November 22nd deadline. Thanks! On to the photos!

Halloween is one of my absolute favorite, FAVORITE holidays. As a kid, my brother, friends and I would always get all decked out in crazy costumes (Pippi Longstocking, penguins, Cheshire cats, you name it), ready to brave the chilly autumn weather for that forbidden pleasure: CANDY.

I thought it would be fun to set up a photo booth of sorts for the trick-or-treaters stopping by my place last night. And we had a blast! Thanks to all the kiddos, teens and parents for having some photo fun!

And now…drum roll please…the photos!

P.S. I found a pair of nice gloves in my lawn last evening. If you’re missing a pair, please call or e-mail me with the description of the gloves to come claim them. :)

The title of the post is a lyric from Diana Krall’s song, Autumn Leaves. I think it’s fitting. Isn’t is just absolutely gorgeous this autumn? I’m so glad we’re having a real one as opposed to last year’s cold shock for the poor trees.

Anyway, it’s been a busy past few weeks – lots of design work (albums, cards, ads, etc.) and event photography, which has been fun. I love design, so it’s kind of a treat to get to spend time working on this aspect of my business. By the way, if you’re interested in cards and/or albums in time for Christmas, please let me know as soon as you can since printing deadlines are just around the corner. (Early November for albums!) And I also need some time to design your album for you, too. :)

But, to the photos: I took a few moments today to take advantage of the beautiful, diffused light we’re getting from these gorgeous gray clouds and made some images of the autumn leaves around where I work. Autumn is my absolute favorite time of year. Hands down. I can’t get enough of the colors, the aromas and the light. Mmmmm, happiness!

I met up with the Jones family on a beautiful autumn day in Missoula for their family portrait session. The kids were pretty excited for their photos and we had a great time making some great family images, as well as capturing candid moments. We found some fantastic skipping stones and the kids showed off their skills to me, in addition to a broken stick. (Oh, boys will definitely be boys! So hilarious!)

Thanks again, all of you! I had such a great time photographing with you – I hope we get to do this again next year, too!

Sarah, a senior at Darby High School in Darby, Montana, met up with me in Stevensville for her lovely senior photo session. The day couldn’t have been more perfect – golden evening light, leaves lazily twirling down from the trees, and warm temps. We strolled through the woods and had a great time making some truly beautiful images of Sarah, who is an absolute natural in front of the camera.

Sarah, it was so great to meet you and your mom, and I hope you have a wonderful senior year!

free·wheel·ing adj. 1. a. Free of restraints or rules in organization, methods, or procedure. b. Carefree.

Bernadette and Jeremy are the epitome of fun and carefree – laughing, sweet, and such a delight to work with! What’s better than a couple who reenacts Bob Dylan’s Freewheelin’ album cover during their engagement session? I mean…that’s just so…GROOVY.

Needless to say, we had an absolute blast during our session. Their reenactment of the album cover was just perfect! (and thank you to the generous donation of the VW bus to complete the look), they worked that camera and I don’t think any of us could stop smiling during the entire session, though we did toss in a few “serious” shots for the heck of it. ;)

My sincere congratulations to you both! You’re an absolutely wonderful couple!

It was a warm, blustery day for Brittany and Ryan’s engagement session – but the wind was full of wonderful energy. The autumn leaves scattered happily down the streets, the wind toyed with Brittany’s hair giving her a beautiful windswept look, and it reminded us all that autumn is here and it’s ready to wow us with its colors and crackling energy. The warm golden sun paired with the wind and treated us to some exquisite light. Ryan and Brittany were so sweet – laughing during their kisses, giggling on their carousel ride, and softening as Ryan ran his hands through Brittany’s hair  – they are so truly in love.

I had such a lovely evening with you, Brittany and Ryan, and am so glad we got to capture some touching moments between the two of you. Congratulations again on your engagement!
