I was walking back from a meeting downtown today and happened upon this gorgeous, flowery little bush and had to stop and take some pictures. I wish Missoula had more of these beauties! (I’d love to do a photo shoot amongst some flowering trees – does anyone know where a group of them are?) Anyway, just thought I’d share. Oh, and I thought you all might enjoy this happy little robin, too. (I photographed him last week in the evening.)
Cheers!

Kristine, are the pink ones flowering almonds? The little white five petals with a beautiful little crown in the center are photographed elegantly. They look like they should be on a bridal veil? I can’t name them — need help! G.

You know, I’m not sure what they are – I wish I knew! I’ll let you know if I find out.

The pink blossoms are probably a flowering plum tree. They can have single or double blossoms. You will know for sure if the leaves emerge a reddish purple. It is one of the earliest flowering trees, so spring is definitely on the way, Missoula.
The white blossoms are one variety of spirea, and often referred to as Bridal Wreath. I adore this one too. Plant one of these, lock up the pruning shears, and it will will reward you with a fountain of blossom covered boughs every year in the spring.
Thanks for the lovely images. My thoughts always go home for Easter even though I live far away now.

Thanks so much, Lynn, for the info on what these are and for the kind words! I’m glad I could share a bit of Missoula’s spring with you. :) Happy Easter!
