From the get-go I knew I'd have a great time making senior pictures in Missoula MT for Sam, a senior at Sentinel High School. He's got such a positive attitude and was really looking forward to his downtown urban session with all the funky buildings and whatnot. As we wandered from spot to spot during his short and sweet session, Sam told me a little bit more about himself. He's really into graphic design, and also enjoys journalism and cars. In fact, he's combined these last two by taking an internship with a car publication and is currently writing for them (how cool!). Sam also loves movies and music and he even plays the piano in the ...
Ryan :: Senior Pictures in Missoula
We have had what feels like an unusually rainy autumn in Missoula, but somehow Ryan and I lucked out for his senior pictures in Missoula, and we enjoyed a break in the rain and even were treated to some sun as well! For Ryan's short and sweet session, we visited a park near his house and then wandered up a nearby hillside. As we wandered, Ryan told me a little bit more about himself. He's really into music and especially enjoys playing his saxophone. At the time of his session, he was just about to head to All State with the high school band. He told me that he likes improvisation, but joked and pointed out that he's not really a huge fan ...
Jake :: Corvallis Montana Senior Photos
I was a little nervous Jake and I were going to get stormed on for his Corvallis Montana senior photos - as I was driving in, the clouds hung low and dark in the sky and I saw a few lightning bolts crackle through the air. But somehow we lucked out and the storm clouds stayed away, and even treated us to some pretty dramatic scenes and absolutely lovely light right in Jake's own back yard. Jake's originally from Seattle, but absolutely loves and prefers Montana and has been here for about 3 years now. He also adores his dogs, and we got to photograph Shiloh, his 7-year-old German short hair pointer, and Ranger, his 8-month-old puppy, also ...
The Bradley Family :: Missoula Montana Fall Family Portraits
I've had the pleasure of photographing the Bradley family since 2010 (oh my, where does the time go?!), so I was of course excited to be photographing their Missoula Montana fall family portraits again this year. They are such a beautiful, happy family, and it really is such a treat to see the kids grow up over the years. We lucked out with a gorgeous autumn day in Missoula for their session - the sun was shining, the leaves were golden, and everyone was happy and excited. The kids skipped through the leaves, tossed rocks and had a great time racing through the tall, willowy grasses. Karu even scaled some trees! Joss was happy to dole out ...
Will :: Missoula Children’s Portraits
I was so happy to get a message from Will's mom, Dana, saying that she'd like to make some Missoula children's portraits of Will at this stage in his life (he's 5-years-old) and that she'd like to document him in one of his favorite places. I just adore sessions like this because they're less about posed images and more about capturing Will just as he is. Which is exactly what we did. And, just as I suspected, we had a blast! We had our session in a place that Will visits often, and he led the way, dashing off excitedly to show me some of his favorite nooks and crannies in the woods. He shared with me his love of pretty autumn leaves (red ...
Jennifer + Aaron :: Ronan Montana Wedding at Sky Ridge Ranch
I think the best part of my job is getting to work with genuinely happy people - and Jennifer and Aaron certainly were the epitome of this at their Ronan Montana wedding at Sky Ridge Ranch. But before their festivities at the ranch began, I met up with Jennifer at the Kwataqnuk Resort in Polson where she was all smiles (and maybe just a few nerves), getting ready to see Aaron for the first time. They chose to have their first look along the shores of Flathead Lake as that's a favorite and important place to both of them. And it was such a great moment. The look on Aaron's face when he saw his bride for the first time was just pure ...
Katie + Lee :: Lake Josephine Glacier Wedding
Ah, Glacier weddings. How I adore thee so. And Katie and Lee's Lake Josephine Glacier wedding in Glacier National Park this autumn was no exception. The day started out a bit on the wet side (that's an understatement) since we've been having a very rainy fall this year, so we were all glancing at the sky, hoping the rain would hold off for Katie and Lee's ceremony. And, much to our delight, hold off it did! We all gathered at the trailhead, and hiked to Lake Josephine in groups. On our way up, we happened to run into a moose, which is always cool, especially when he's chill about it (which he was, and for which I was glad, as I was wearing ...
Sarah + Matt :: Wedding at the Barn at Finley Point in Polson Montana
Sarah and Matt truly had the definition of a perfect wedding at the Barn at Finley Point in Polson Montana. It wasn't too hot, nor too cold; they got to visit some of their favorite places on earth whilst enjoying their wedding day (Sarah grew up visiting her grandparents' place on Flathead Lake, which is just a hop and a skip away from the Barn at Finley Point); and they enjoyed it all with the people closest to them. Their day started out with their first look in Ronan by a favorite barn of Sarah and Matt's - and some "bushwhacking" through fields (we had permission, don't worry!), which ended up being pretty memorable (I think most of ...
Rachel + Mark :: Engagement Pictures in Missoula MT
Rachel and Mark's engagement pictures in Missoula MT were so much fun to photograph. However, it wasn't a surprise to me that Rachel, Mark and I had such a good time making images. When they initially contacted me about photographing their wedding, we had such a great time chatting over the phone that I knew getting to meet them in person could only be even better! Rachel and Mark are both from Montana, but currently live in the midwest while Rachel finishes up dental hygienist school, so it was great to be able to make these images for them while they were in town getting to visit Montana again over the summer. Probably the best thing ...
Jackson + Logan :: Engagement Pictures in Missoula Montana
I was so excited to photograph Jackson and Logan's engagement pictures in Missoula Montana because I knew we'd have such a great time making images together. I actually initially "virtually met" Jackson through Instagram where we connected via my little bird, Flash, who has a tendency to be featured in some of my posts on the platform. (At one time Jackson had a bird as well.) So when Jackson asked me if I'd be interested in talking more with him and Logan about photographing their wedding, I was so excited to get to meet them in person! (Turns out they'd been guests at Christine and Pete's wedding that I photographed in 2014.) As I ...
