If you've been following my work or my blog for a while, you know that I adore color. Love it. Wholeheartedly. And when Hugh showed up for his autumn Missoula senior pictures looking seriously stylish and completely on par with all the gorgeous colors around, I got a little giddy. (I mean, his orange pants! Absolute perfection!) We had a great time walking around and making the most of all the awesome color we had to work with, and also chatted a bit too. Hugh really loves to snowboard, and has been doing so for a while. He also enjoys learning about history and thinks that after graduation he'd like to pursue either a career in welding or ...
Big Sky Sunsets and Smiles :: {Gretchen and Shawn’s Missoula Ranch Club Wedding}
Gretchen and Shawn both live in New York City, but Gretchen grew up in Missoula and knew she wanted to be married in the big sky state and honor some of her favorite Montana things on their wedding day. They couldn't have paid homage to this great place any better. From their first look that took place near her childhood home, to the Montana beers, to the band they had playing, to the sage in her bouquet, it was truly a day full of fond memories - both old and new. Montana certainly was up to the challenge as well and presented everyone with a brilliantly sunny day, not a cloud in that expanse of blue, and later transformed itself with ...
Sun, Smiles and Sweetness :: {Annie and Josh’s Trapper Peak Winery Wedding}
Time certainly flies when you're having fun, and it seriously feels like just yesterday that I was hanging out with Annie and Josh making their engagement photos amongst the autumn leaves and night sky. Fast forward a few months (ok, more than a few months!) and their wedding day had arrived! I love how personalized their wedding was to their tastes and their lifestyle. Their venue was just a hop and a skip away from the B&B they run, Annie chose to wear a custom-made antique lace dress, their food was locally-sourced, the events of the day were casual and fun and centered around friends and family, and Annie even helped make her own ...
Fun with Color :: {Alexandra’s Missoula Senior Pictures}
One of my favorite seasons is definitely autumn, so I was excited to hear that Alexandra really wanted some fall colors in her senior photos. And fall colors we received! Brilliant golds, oranges and reds really highlighted the pop of pink Alexandra was wearing and the red in her hair as well - perfection! We had such a nice time wandering and finding those color pops, enjoying the autumn scent and making some fun images that highlighted Alexandra's sparkling eyes and beautiful smile. Alexandra - thanks again for a fun session! Here's to an awesome senior year and a bright future for you! On the docket: weddings, portraits, ...
Sweetness and Sunsets :: {Sarah and Matt’s Double Arrow Resort Wedding}
If there's one word to describe Sarah and Matt's wedding it is, without a doubt, the word happy. There was just so much joy, happiness, and love during their wedding that it nearly radiated! And even though we all had to duck in and out of bouts of rain, it didn't faze anyone. Also, I swear, it resulted in one of the most incredible sunsets I've seen at the resort. Just stunning. Mother Nature must've been paying attention to the wedding day timeline, because the rain dissipated in time for Sarah to walk down the aisle to her smiling groom. There was laughter, there were happy tears, and there was oh-so-much jubilant celebration as ...
A Girl & Her Best Friends :: {Jessy’s Missoula Senior Portraits}
It was so great to meet up with Jessy the other evening for her senior photos - and I was excited because she told me that 1) she's a very musical person and wanted to incorporate that into her pictures. And 2) she loves animals, and was going to be bringing along her cat, Fancy, and her dog, Buddy. Music and animals are equally important to me, too, so I knew we'd have a good time making her photos. We had fun wandering downtown, and I've got to give it to her furry friends - they did great! I think Buddy may have thought we were on the strangest walk ever (i.e. "who is this lady with the crazy weird gadgets, and why does she get me all ...
Water-Wading and Sweet Smiles :: {Nicole’s Missoula Senior Pictures}
To say that Nicole, her mom and I had a blast during her senior session would be a complete and total understatement. Holy moly did we have fun! Nicole is a senior at Hellgate and is on the swim team there - so she was really hoping we could incorporate water into her shoot, which I'd say we did pretty successfully. I've got to hand out the kudos to her too, because that water was darn chilly! And yep, she and I definitely waded into it. Cold, but so worth it! When I asked her about what she might be interested in doing after she graduates from Hellgate, Nicole told me that she really loves working with kids and hopes to pursue this as ...
Over the Moon in Love :: {Amanda and Raker’s Sky Ridge Ranch Montana Wedding}
I think an apt way to describe Amanda and Raker's Ronan Montana wedding day goes a little something like this: my cheeks literally hurt from smiling after I had finished photographing for them. And I'm betting I wasn't the only one feeling this way - which is quite decidedly a completely awesome way to feel. From the moment the day started to the moment things wound down, there was just so much happiness, joy, and laughter from everyone present. Montana, true to form, pulled out all the stops and showed off beautiful blue skies, butterflies!, perfect temps, warm sun, one heckuva sunset, and a moonrise over the mountaintops! I am still a ...
Golden Grasses and Stunning Smiles :: {Sonia and Derek’s Missoula Wedding at the Ranch Club}
Missoula in the summertime is truly a magical place, and it was no different for Sonia and Derek's Missoula wedding at the Ranch Club - blue skies, a smattering of wispy clouds, and lots of beautiful sunshine to kiss the landscape. A gentle breeze blew as Sonia and Derek shared readings, spoke their vows and exchanged rings in front of their family and friends. As the two kissed for the first time as husband and wife everyone cheered, their smiles wide and eyes bright. As folks finished their dinner, toasts started up and were filled with emotion, fond memories and punctuated with laughter and perhaps a few misty eyes. Sonia and ...
The Glacier Sublime :: Meagan and Brian’s Glacier National Park Elopement
When I hear the word "Glacier," I have to admit - my heart goes pitter patter. And when I hear the words "Glacier National Park elopement" I darn near about have a heart attack. That's how much I love it up there. So when Meagan and Brian contacted me about meeting up with them to photograph their wedding ceremony (with just them, their officiant and me), I was more than a little excited. They had never been to Glacier, but had always wanted to visit, and figured this was a great place to be married. And oh, it was. It was, it was, it was, a million times over. Montana pulled out all the stops for them and the weather was perfect, complete ...
