It is always such a treat to get to work with clients multiple times, so when Cheyenne contacted me asking me if we could meet up again, this time with her mother and grandmother, to make some portraits to celebrate her graduation from the University of Montana and also celebrate the fact that three generations of her family were together, I was excited and jumped at the chance! We managed to dodge the raindrops (for the most part - we got a bit soaked as soon as we finished our portraits - see the last image to view the clouds we were up against), and had such a great time. These ladies obviously have a blast together, and it was so much ...
Graduation Celebration! :: {Dylan’s University of Montana Graduation and Family Portraits}
Graduation weekend at the University of Montana means there's a certain happy, excited energy in the air around Missoula that is always such a cool feeling, and makes me think back upon my own experiences graduating from college and graduate school. You're nervous, you're happy, you're relieved, you're stoked for the next chapter of your life, and you're grateful for those who helped support you in your academic pursuits - usually your awesome family and friends. Such was the case for Dylan, and we got together to make some portraits of him to celebrate his graduation from the University of Montana with a degree in Geology. He had ...
Playful Puppy! :: {The Sharkey Family’s Missoula Pet Portrait Session}
It was so fun to meet up with the Sharkey family the other day to make some portraits of their family - and their newest member, 12-week old golden lab, Kuba! I'm pretty sure we all got a workout from running around after Kuba and from laughing so much! He definitely stole the show, and even showed off his talents at learning how to be a bird dog (i.e. figuring out the pheasant scent). Thank you again for taking time out of your evening to make some fun images! It was such a treat to meet you all and indulge in some puppy time, which I absolutely adore. :) Ok folks...are you ready to melt? Fair warning...there's a lot of adorable ...
Glorious Glacier :: {One of my Favorite Places on Earth}
I've been a bit quiet on the blog lately, I admit. But it's because I've been steadfastly prepping for the upcoming photography season (which is going to be awesome!), and I've also been taking time to better my business from behind the scenes, as well as better myself personally and spend time with friends and family before life gets all crazy again. This also means I've finally gotten around to editing some of my own personal images. So, I thought I'd share a few here. Last September I took some time to meet up with my brother and his girlfriend in Glacier National Park. They took the train from Portland into Whitefish, unpacked their ...
Loving the Lilacs – {Happy First Day of Spring, Missoula!}
I love spring. Every sweet ounce of it. There's just something so amazing and exhilarating about how the world transforms from browns and grays to color, color, color! (Have I mentioned just how much I love color?) Some of my favorite spring things (in no particular order): Fuzzy baby green leaves ::: warm sun ::: the smell of mud ::: birdsong ::: smiling faces ::: dark earth ::: buds! ::: blue skies ::: bicycling ::: grilling ::: transformation of the landscape ::: gardening ::: pussy willows ::: sweet little baby animals ::: getting muddy ::: t-shirt weather ::: the promise of summer.... I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at ...
Golden Emotion and Happy Hearts – {Joe and Hannah’s Missoula Wedding}
I had the pleasure of photographing Joe and Hannah's winter wedding a bit ago, which took place on their engagement-anniversary in February. It was wintry outside, but warm and inviting inside the Florence building's ballroom - the lights glowed as did everyone's faces as Hannah walked down the aisle, beaming at her groom. The two laughed and smiled as they exchanged vows, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife to the Star Wars theme - so great! We had fun playing around with portraits and definitely took advantage of the old phone booths on the main level. Soon it was time for some really sweet toasts, the cutting of the ...
Feeling Pretty! – {Brittnee’s Missoula Boudoir Photos}
It has been such a treat working with Brittnee to make some boudoir images - both for her and for use as a gift. She's also been extremely gracious in allowing me to share some of her photos with you - and I'm so glad she did! She did such a fabulous job on our shoot, despite being pretty nervous at first (which is always completely normal!). But look at how she rocked her images! I think it's safe to say that the camera loves her. :) We had so much fun during her shoot - so much laughter and silliness and, quite simply, a darn good time. Thanks again, Britt, for such a great shoot! It has been such a pleasure getting to work with you! ...
Winter in the Mountains – {Kristeen & Colt’s Montana Portrait Session at Sky Ridge Ranch}
From the moment I talked to Kristeen on the phone (and we exclaimed over the fact that we're both "K" Kristines - woot woot! we're rare, I tell you!), I knew we'd just have a blast working together! So, when Kristeen called to tell me she and Colt were in Missoula, visiting from their home base in Hawaii, and that they had decided they wanted to take advantage of the snow we had here to do some fun portraits, I was completely game. We all carpooled together up to Sky Ridge Ranch (which is where they'll be getting married this summer - such a beautiful venue!), and decided to tromp around in the snow and make the most of the white-capped ...
Leopard Print and Long Legs – {Miss C.’s Missoula, Montana Boudoir Session}
Boudoir sessions are always so much fun to shoot - the ladies I work with are usually kind of giddy/nervous when we first start (since for many, this is a completely new thing), but by the time the session's over, they're elated, excited, feeling great about themselves and can't wait to see their images. And we always keep it classy and sensual - which is hugely important to me in how I go about photographing these sessions. Nothing over-the-top here. :) Far too often, we as women can be so overly critical of how we look (myself included). So, to be able to do these shoots and help ladies truly see just how beautiful they are, and feel ...
Fabulous Fashion Finds – {NCBI Missoula’s Recessionista Photo Shoot}
I always love photographing YWCA Recessionistas (and Recessionisto's - gotta give a shout out to the guys, too!) to help promote their Secret Seconds stores in Missoula for a few different reasons: Our shoots are always a blast! These volunteer models have mega awesome fashion sense (from clothes they find at the stores - that's important to know!). Most importantly, it's for a great cause! The lovely folks from NCBI Missoula certainly lived up to these three things and, despite it being a bit windy (with the slight danger of going all Mary Poppins on the shoot with our rainbow umbrella), we all had a great time making ...
