Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere, I'm sure you're well aware that the Coronavirus and COVID-19 have drastically changed this world and our everyday lives. It's also changed my photography business (for the time being). So I wanted to write a quick blog post addressing COVID-19 and Photography, and how I and my business are handling it. First things first - I am a very, very lucky photographer. This is directly related to the fact that a couple years ago, I miraculously got offered a job at a web design company out of San Francisco and have been working remotely for them ever since. I still have that job today while ...
Groovy Guy Gifts Totes Magotes Bag Review
Recently, Groovy Guy Gifts sent me a personalized "Totes Magotes" bag in the mail and asked me to write up a review of it - so here it is! The Groovy Guy Gifts Totes Magotes Bag review. As you might guess from the name of the company, Groovy Guy Gifts specializes in gifts you might want to give the special guy or guys in your life. In particular, they market what they offer to people looking for groomsman gifts. However, I think that a lot of what they sell could be given as a gift at any time - no need to be a groomsman. The Totes Magotes bag is a perfect example of this. Any guy who ever needs to transport his stuff in style, but with ...
Skiing into Garnet Ghost Town in Montana :: A Mini Winter Adventure
Skiing into Garnet Ghost Town in Montana has long been on my list of "things I really want to do." A friend of mine had done it a few years back, and, while I've visited the ghost town numerous times during the spring and summer, I had never experienced it during the winter. Cross country skiing into the little ghost town, nestled in its very own tiny valley, sounded like the perfect way to enjoy a little slice of Montana winter. When initially researching how to make this happen, we came across various pieces of information, but none of them was super definitive, and most of what we were able to find out was pieced together from multiple ...
Katie, Mike + Ruth :: Wintry Missoula Maternity Photos
It's a huge understatement to say how enjoyable it's been over the past nine years to get to work with Katie and Mike and capture their life events on film for them! So, during their family session this past spring I was especially excited to hear that they were expecting again in February, and even happier to get to photograph their wintry Missoula maternity photos to ring in 2020, this time with big sister, Ruth, as part of the images, too! We've had a pretty warm winter thus far, but I think Mother Nature heard our pleas for snow and treated us to a fresh dusting that afternoon, as well as some perfectly-timed snowflakes a little later ...
Mighty + Melvin :: Hamilton Montana Dog Portraits
Oh goodness - is there anything better than getting to make cute pup portraits? Methinks probably not, especially when the doggos are as adorable and sweet as Mighty and Melvin are, who are darling little Cavachons. These two rocked their Hamilton Montana dog portraits and had their mom, Shelly, and I in stitches laughing at their hilarious antics. Mighty (also known as Mr. Mighty or The Prince) and Melvin (also known as Pickles, Sweet Pickles or Pickle Lips) had a great time traipsing about in the tall, golden grasses, and racing through leaves. They also showed me just how very much they love chicken treats. (Their love for chicken is ...
Alexis + Joe :: Bowman Lake Elopement in Glacier National Park
It was one heckuva gorgeous Montana day for Alexis and Joe's Bowman Lake elopement in Glacier National Park. We had a bluebird sky above, pristine reflections on the lake in front of us, and oh so much sun! Suffice it to say, Montana really pulled out all the stops for Alexis and Joe's special day! These two originally met in Denver at a bluegrass show and moved to Missoula a little over two years ago. Because they love their time in the outdoors (camping and hiking especially), Joe proposed to Alexis in Glacier. So it was particularly fitting that they tied the knot there, too! We started out the day by meeting up at their Air BnB just ...
Rilee + Nick :: Colorful Autumn Engagement Photos
It was so fun to photograph Rilee and Nick's colorful autumn engagement photos - not only because we timed our session perfectly and were treated to some absolutely brilliant yellows oranges and reds, but because these two are just a blast to work with! I'd photographed Nick's older brother Jamie's wedding a few years earlier, so when Rilee and Nick contacted me about doing their engagement and wedding photos I knew we'd click (no pun intended!). As was standard for this year, we had some rain clouds threatening in the background as well as a few raindrops to start out our session. But thankfully the impending storm skirted around us and ...
Kelsey + Sam :: Moon Randolph Homestead Wedding
We were all watching the weather forecast and the skies leading up to Kelsey and Sam's Moon Randolph Homestead wedding because a winter storm was brewing (in September of all things!), and no one quite knew what Mother Nature would surprise us with. Thankfully we managed to avoid the snow until later in the evening, but Kelsey and Sam's wedding has got to go down in history as one of the coldest weddings I've ever photographed in September! (If I recall correctly, I think the windchill had the temps feeling like the teens to low 20's! Brrr!) Despite the chill, Kelsey and Sam absolutely made the most of their day (and the lack of snow!), ...
Dana + Will :: Missoula Montana Mother and Son Session
I was so excited when Dana got in touch with me again about doing another Missoula Montana mother and son session with her 8-year-old boy, Will, because we'd had such a wonderful time together during our first session three years ago! Will's grown so much, and much like our first session, he's a boy who's curious and excited about life, loves the outdoors, adores his mother, and still retains a fascination with sticks and rocks and all the cool things we can find in the woods. It was so fun to see his imagination at play (at one point he created some "bike handlebars" from two sticks he he held together), and he had all sorts of ...
Emilia :: Missoula Newborn Baby Session
Getting to see and documents my clients' milestones in their lives will always be one of my most favorite things to photograph. When Christine and Anders told me they were pregnant with their first baby and they wanted me to photograph her newborn images upon her arrival, suffice it to say, I was ecstatic! And little miss Emilia's Missoula newborn baby session was just a treat! Her fur siblings (Misha and Sam) were pretty darn excited for the session too, and it's clear just how much they love their newest little human. (And Misha just always loves to work it for the camera, which always has us all cracking up. haha!) Emilia was one ...
