I think one of my favorite things about Emily and John's Missoula Montana Wilma Theatre wedding is that they got married in the very same place they had their first date. How cool is that? Especially since they came back to Missoula (all the way from Tennessee) to make it happen. And it couldn't have been a more lovely day for these two. Everyone was excited and giddy and happy and smiling as they got ready for the ceremony. The guys were joking around, and the girls were dancing in the green room, singing into hairbrushes. You gotta love a group like that! John was stoked to don his custom linen suit, which sported his wedding date on ...
Kristina :: Missoula Montana Trail Running
Kristina and I first met at Snowbowl where we both were part of the same women's ski group. Our group was totally rad, and we quickly became friends with one another as we spent time chatting on the lifts and laughing over après ski beers at the Last Run Inn. So I was tickled when she asked me to make some images of her doing her thing, which is Missoula Montana trail running. And boy howdy, does she do this well! I'm always so very impressed by people who run (I'd love to be one of them myself - maybe one day!). But I'm in total and complete admiration and awe of people who not only run, but run mountains! Kristina's so good at what she ...
Christine + Alex :: Summertime Gibson Mansion Wedding
Christine and Alex's summertime Gibson Mansion wedding was pretty much as close to a fairytale, storybook wedding as one can imagine. The day was beautiful, the happiness in the air was tangible, and even the little bit of rain that showed up in the evening just added to the overall romantic feeling of the day. It was perfect for these two, who actually met when Christine was cast as a princess in a Missoula Children's Theater production, and Alex was cast as the prince. Talk about serendipitous! We started the day off by documenting Christine and her ladies as they all readied themselves at the mansion. Everyone was laughing and giggling, ...
Ashley + Wayne :: Elopement in Glacier National Park
I'm pretty sure I've got the best job in the world. When Ashley contacted me way back when about photographing her and Wayne's elopement in Glacier National Park, I swear, we were just giddy and happy and giggling on the phone to one another the entire call. So I knew we'd have such a wonderful time making images together on their wedding day. She and Wayne, their dog, Noose, and her sister and her sister's husband all made the trek out to Montana together to check out Glacier for the first time, and to get hitched while they were out here. Not only did they get to say their "I Do's" in Montana, they also got to celebrate Ashley's ...
Christy, Scott, Ian + Keygan :: Glacier National Park Family Portraits
There were so many favorite moments from Christy, Scott, Ian and Keygan's Glacier National Park family portraits, but I think my most favorite thing is that they chose to document their entire family together on their vacation to Glacier from Texas. When Christy initially contacted me about making these photos for them, she told me that she'd done this before on another trip of theirs together and loved the results, so decided it was worth doing again! And what a great idea! Clearly I'm a little biased here, but I can't say enough about how important it is to document your family together - and if you're the one behind the camera most of ...
HJ + John :: Intimate Wedding at the Triple Creek Ranch in Darby Montana
I say this a lot, I know, but it really couldn't have been a more perfect, beautiful day for HJ and John's intimate wedding at the Triple Creek Ranch in Darby Montana. They were so excited and happy to be married, and their friends were just as gleeful to see these two tie the knot, so to speak. As I chatted with them a bit, I learned that HJ is Scottish and John is Irish, and they met on an airplane 13 years ago. (This is now becoming a theme for several of my couples - perhaps I need to start traveling more? Haha!) They've visited the ranch four times in the past five years so it seemed particularly fitting that they be married there, ...
Sammy + James :: Missoula Montana Springtime Engagement Session
A few weeks ago, Sammy and James got to zip on over this direction from Manhattan (the New York kind) for their Missoula Montana springtime engagement session, and I'm so glad Montana decided to play nicely and treat them to a beautiful evening in town since we had a pretty rainy springtime this year. Sammy is originally from Missoula, and she and James currently live in NYC. When I asked them how they met, they both happened to be at a mutual friend's birthday party, and the rest is history. James proposed to her on the Tower Bridge in London, and, as it turns out, it seems that bridges are kind of a theme for them. We started out their ...
Isabella + Jordan :: Dunrovin Ranch Wedding in Lolo Montana
June weddings in Montana can be a bit of a gamble when it comes to the weather because you never know if it's going to be snowing, raining, thunderstorming or mild. Isabella and Jordan had to dodge a few raindrops at their Dunrovin Ranch Wedding in Lolo Montana, but the best part about it was that they didn't let the weather and the cooler temperatures faze them in the least. They were focused on enjoying their wedding day, getting to promise their love to one another, and enjoying time with family and friends, who had traveled from all over the globe to celebrate with them. And wouldn't you know it, as Isabella walked down the aisle the sun ...
Margaret, Grant + Teddy the St. Bernard :: Seeley Lake Montana Family Portraits
I had the pleasure of photographing Margaret and Grant's wedding last summer, so I knew we'd have a blast again this spring making their Seeley Lake Montana family portraits, this time with their puppy, Teddy the St. Bernard in tow! (Though he's already a very big boy!) I met up with them at their family cabin on a (chilly!) spring day in June, and, as it happens in Montana, we got a little bit of everything as far as weather goes - but the best thing is that Margaret, Grant and Teddy were totally open to making it work and going with the flow. We began our session in the woods outside their cabin, and were serenaded by some chatty ...
Caroline + Friends :: Girls Weekend at The Resort at Paws Up in Montana
One of my favorite parts of photographing portrait sessions is when the idea behind it is unique - and Caroline's girls weekend at The Resort at Paws Up in Montana was definitely that! She and a group of her best friends from all over the country (all businesswomen and mothers) decided to meet up in Montana at Paws Up to celebrate Caroline's birthday and treat themselves - which I think is such a fantastic thing to do! Luckily, the weather cleared up for us and big sky country definitely put on a show for these ladies. We were treated to fantastic views, dramatic skies and wildflowers in abundance! As we were zipping around the resort, we ...
