It's not every day that you meet someone so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about raising pigs, since so many of us haven't set foot on a farm in who-knows-how-long. But that I did when I joined Collin and his mom at the pig barn to greet his four favorite piglets that he's raising as a part of FFA (Future Farmers of America). Collin and his mom, Anna Marie, have a special bond with these piglets, as they both helped birth them and ensure safe passage into their new world. And they also have a fondness for the farm, too - as Collin told me, it's one of his favorite places. Which is truly evident - he's at home, relaxed and confident next to ...
Rockin’ Recessionistas, Take Two – {YWCA Missoula Fashion Shoot}
I had the pleasure of photographing another Recessionista shoot for the Missoula YWCA the other day (though I think Bradley may prefer the term "Recessionist-O"), with fab volunteer models, Bradley and Sara. (Our first shoot was featured a few months ago.) We were going for a bit more of a springtime theme this time around, and had a great time making some fun images for campaigns you'll see around Missoula establishments. And remember, these clothes came straight from Secret Seconds shops around Missoula, so pop on in, get yourself some new springtime duds, and do the YWCA a favor, too! All sales at YWCA Secret Seconds help women and ...

Love is in the Air – {Lisa and John’s Missoula Engagement Session}
Warm sun, blowing snow, zippy little breezes, and blue sky! - we got a bit of each of these during Lisa and John's Missoula engagement photo session the other day. But no matter what Montana's mother nature wanted to throw at us, Lisa and John rolled with it and had a blast to boot! I'm not sure we really even stopped laughing during our entire session we had such a good time. Lisa and John really are two peas in a pod - they know how to have fun and they aren't afraid to show it. Thanks again for such an awesome session - I cannot wait to photograph your wedding this summer! To the photos! On the docket: ...
Kite Flying! – {Cannon Beach Just Because Session}
Oceans and kites and sun and wind - there really might not be a better combination. I joined Kirk and Katie for a trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon, for their fun little "just because" session. The day was sublime - and Kirk and Katie definitely made the most of the wind and had fun flying their kite high into the blue sky. We also stumbled across some long, snake-like bull kelp (I think that's what it's called, but if not, please correct me!), which happened to be just perfect for creating ridiculously cool shapes when snapped. (Kirk and Katie happened to make some pretty sweet hearts.) Thanks, you two! On the docket: portrait ...
Jumping Quail! – {Wordless Wednesday}
I headed over to Portland the other day for a working vacation and on my way there, stopped in Spokane to visit my most wonderful grandparents. They're avid birders and were showing me the little quail crew that comes near their house for a visit each morning and evening. Quail, in my opinion, are already pretty funny, so this photo just makes me laugh even more than usual.... Jumping Quail! I know that was a lot of words for a "Wordless Wednesday" post, but I wanted to give a bit of background. Plus, I was an English major back in the day.... :) On the docket: engagement and portrait sessions, as soon as I get over this cold I've ...
Reaching for the Sky – {Wordless Wednesday}
Reaching for the sky! Daffodils and tulips! P.S. I just redesigned my main website (www.kristinepaulsenphotography.com), so if you happen to swing by and take a look, and if it's looking a bit strange, you may need to refresh your browser. Also, I've added a Facebook comment feature to the main page, so leave me a note if you feel like it. :) (It's at the bottom left and says "Click to Comment.") Cheers! -Kristine ...
Traipsing through the Woods – {Charity and Matt’s Missoula Engagement}
I met up with Charity and Matt the other day for their engagement session out in the woods. Amazingly enough, being that it's near the end of March, we were still able to find some snow - hooray! We had a lovely time walking and talking and catching some very sweet moments between these two. The sun even peeked out for a bit! Thanks so much, C and M! What a great time - I'm so excited to be photographing your wedding this year! On the docket: more fabulous engagement sessions! And remember, I'm on the lookout for senior representatives. Be sure to check out the new senior website, too! :) Cheers! -Kristine ...
