One of the things I love most about senior sessions is getting to hear about goals and plans and all the interests unique to that senior. Collin's Missoula Montana fall senior pictures were no exception! As it turns out, Collin, who's a senior at Hellgate High School, has myriad interests. One of which is the guitar — and from the bits and pieces I heard as Collin played while I snapped images, he's one incredibly talented musician. And he wowed me even with fingers that were on the numb side! (It was a little breezy during our shoot.) In fact, Collin has played guitar since he was five years old. Not only that, he has an interest in all ...
Pier 7 Top :: A Personal Post
This is a bit of a departure from my regular photography client posts that I typically share here. But it's a huge part of who I am and what I love to do, so here it is on this blog! When I have a bit of free time (which isn't a whole lot — I'm actively trying to get better at that), one of my favorite things to do is sew! Recently I had the opportunity to make the Pier 7 Top as a promotional sew for New Horizons Designs. It's been on my wishlist for a while, so I'm glad I finally got to give it a whirl! First and foremost, it's a super cute top. The website describes it as follows: The Pier 7 top is named after a popular pier in San ...
Elijah :: Downtown Missoula Senior Photos
Oh my goodness — did I ever have an absolutely delightful time making Elijah's downtown Missoula senior photos! Elijah is a senior at Big Sky High School and definitely connected with the camera. But that's not surprising at all since one of his goals after high school is to become a fashion model! And boy did he ever strike a pose — at every click of the camera he changed his angle, and was so excited to make images on benches, signs, stairs, graffiti, you name it, he was game! He especially rocked the smoldering gaze, looking straight into the depths of my lens. Elijah particularly loves to wear suits and ties, and we had a great time ...
Logan :: Autumn Senior Pictures in Missoula
Years ago, I had the pleasure of making family photos for Logan and her family. Fast forward seven years and now I'm making Logan's autumn senior pictures in Missoula. How time flies! It was such a treat to get to make these images for Logan, who's a senior at Big Sky High School. She loves tennis, adores birds (I helped her mom pick out a baby cockatiel for Logan a couple years ago as a surprise!), and has an interest in neuroscience and German, which she's thinking about studying in college. When she's not busy playing tennis or hanging out with her friends, Logan also enjoys drawing, hiking, biking, and writing. As we chatted while ...
Simons Family :: Summer Family Photos
Originally I was set to document Brayden's first birthday - but then, you know - pandemic times. So our session got pushed back some until we could safely be outdoors with one another. And even though these images weren't made exactly at Brayden's one-year milestone, I'd still say that the Simons' family's summer family photos are still a pretty great milestone for everyone involved! Not surprisingly, Brayden has changed so much since I made his newborn photos! (A lot happens in one year!) He's got such a stellar little personality - he's all smiles and waves and giggles, and boy does he love his entire fam - especially his big ...
Maximilian :: Baby and Family Photos at Flathead Lake
I was so excited when Taylor contacted me about making some baby and family photos at her family's place on Flathead Lake, because I had photographed her little sister, Kristi's, senior photos there 7 years prior! Not only that, but I had made a few images of Taylor and Matt during that session, too. And they had only just been dating at the time! Fast forward a few years, and Taylor and Matt are married now and have a darling little baby boy, Maximilian! Max was 2 months old during our most recent session, and what a little trooper he was! He loved looking at the sky, getting kisses from his doggo siblings, is a huge fan of all of his ...
Alena + Dan :: Springtime Missoula Mountainside Wedding
Though Alena and Dan's springtime Missoula mountainside wedding was smaller than planned due to Covid-19-related restrictions, it was still such a beautiful day for these two! The mountains and valley provided the perfect backdrop, wildflowers swayed in the breeze, and the clouds upped their drama factor for the day. They married at Alena's parents' home, and started the day off helping each other get ready, with lots of laughs and smiles as they navigated their way through tying Dan's bowtie. Before long, it was time to officially say their "I Do's" (which were being live-streamed for friends and family who couldn't make it to Montana ...
Rilee + Nick :: Intimate Rainy Missoula Wedding
Rilee and Nick had to postpone their their original, large wedding due to the pandemic, so instead they downsized in 2020 and embraced their intimate rainy Missoula wedding - mega party to be had in 2021! And what a gorgeous, magical day it was for them, even in spite of the rain! They had an emotional set of first looks - with each other, and then with Rilee and her dad. The rain quickly began to move in, so a few of us hung out under a gigantic tree that was perfectly placed right near their ceremony site as their guests began to stroll through a field of spring wildflowers. Soon it was time to get things started, and Rilee made ...
COVID-19 and Photography – How I’m Handling it :: A Personal Post
Unless you have been living under a rock somewhere, I'm sure you're well aware that the Coronavirus and COVID-19 have drastically changed this world and our everyday lives. It's also changed my photography business (for the time being). So I wanted to write a quick blog post addressing COVID-19 and Photography, and how I and my business are handling it. First things first - I am a very, very lucky photographer. This is directly related to the fact that a couple years ago, I miraculously got offered a job at a web design company out of San Francisco and have been working remotely for them ever since. I still have that job today while ...
Groovy Guy Gifts Totes Magotes Bag Review
Recently, Groovy Guy Gifts sent me a personalized "Totes Magotes" bag in the mail and asked me to write up a review of it - so here it is! The Groovy Guy Gifts Totes Magotes Bag review. As you might guess from the name of the company, Groovy Guy Gifts specializes in gifts you might want to give the special guy or guys in your life. In particular, they market what they offer to people looking for groomsman gifts. However, I think that a lot of what they sell could be given as a gift at any time - no need to be a groomsman. The Totes Magotes bag is a perfect example of this. Any guy who ever needs to transport his stuff in style, but with ...
