I’m so excited to share baby Mo and baby Liam’s Missoula Montana lifestyle newborn photos session with you today! After making Keriann’s maternity photos, I just couldn’t wait to meet these little ones! And how fun that Keriann and Alex have both a little boy and girl in their lives! There’s something just so, so special about documenting lifestyle newborn sessions. I love meeting the wee ones, but even more beautiful is getting to see people turn into parents. It was amazing to witness how absolutely brilliant they are in their new roles. Keriann and Alex certainly have a lot on their plates now, but boy, are they ever knocking it out of the park together in their new family of four!

I met up with them at their home for their photos, and, as it happens, the twins were one month old that day. Mo (short for Montine) and Liam (short for William) were absolutely incredible during their session! I was so impressed by how alert they were, and how big they are. Mo was 5 pounds and Liam was 7 pounds at birth (big kudos to you, Keriann!). They also have a super cool palindrome birthday — 3-20-23 — which also happened to be the first day of spring!

Being newborns, Mo and Liam had their moments, but Keriann and Alex were at the ready with an excellent pacifier strategy to keep the babies calm and happy. (Side note: I love how the pacifiers have names, related to the little stuffed animals attached to them. One is “Stego” and the other is “Drama Llama.” SO good. ) Keriann and Alex would count down “one, two, three!” Then they’d remove Stego and Drama Llama, and we’d have a few seconds to make photos before the babies realized what was up and staged a protest.

Liam completely passed out at one point, and Alex was a bit incredulous since “he never does this!” Mo, on the other hand, was so wide-eyed and seemed to be deeply taking in everything around her…including the weird black box I had up in her face. Liam about melted me when he gave us a few smiles here and there showing his sweet dimples.

And I was so happy to be able to make some images with Mo and Liam’s grandparents, too — Jo and Tommy. We also had fun creating photos with the beautiful quilts Jo made for the babies.

This was such a beautiful, delightful session, and I’m just so glad we got to capture this stage in all their lives together. Time flies, so being able to freeze these sweet moments just means the world to me.

Keriann, Alex, Mo, and Liam (and Jo and Tommy, too!), thank you so much for inviting me into your lives to capture these memories for you! Your family is so sweet, and it was an absolute treat to get to meet Mo and Liam. I can’t wait to see you all continue to grow together!

The third time was the charm for Lauren, Garrick, Quinn, and Burke’s snowy Missoula family photos! The weather had a mind of its own and kept misbehaving and raining, but things got a bit colder and turned to snow, so we went for it, and were treated to that in-between time in the autumn where the leaves are still brilliantly colored, but there’s snow on the ground.

Quinn, nearly 3, was a big fan of the colliding seasons and had a blast playing in the leaves, while also making a (face-down!) snow angel and some snow balls. She was absolutely beyond excited for our photo session and was all about running hither thither and yon. She especially loved racing her parents and playing red light-green light.

It was a bit breezy the day of our session, so baby Burke (8 weeks old) remained bundled up and cozy in his chariot until he made a fashionably late entrance to participate in some family photos. He was a trooper and wasn’t too upset to be removed from his cozy cocoon, and was exceptionally curious about what Quinn was up to.

Quinn also showed us how to best throw rocks into the creek, and how to balance on wobbly rocks in her new boots! When she wasn’t throwing rocks, she was busy bargaining with her dad to be tossed high into the sky to catch some air. And did she ever! She was absolutely thrilled and full of giggles afterwards.

Lauren, Garrick, Quinn, and Burke! Thank you again for braving the chilly weather and bringing the joy and warmth to your session! It was an absolute delight to get to photograph your family and be treated to so many smiles and laughs with you all. Cheers to your fantastic family!

I was so excited to get to meet baby B and document his Missoula baby portraits. And, even at just a little over two months old, he was the most adorable little pro during his session!

B loved to coo and smile at his daddy, and they both especially enjoyed sticking their tongues out at each other. As you might guess, this was basically about the cutest thing in the world to witness. I think we all melted a bit!

Baby B’s got opinions and character to beat the band! B’s micro expressions were so sweet, and even when he was upset, his little jutting jaw was beyond cute.

After making some photos outside with his mom and dad, we moved indoors so B could rest up after all the excitement. He’s got the coolest nursery, packed full of rainbows, clouds, and mountains. As he began to get ready for his nap, he loved cuddling with his little elephant toy, and especially enjoyed being rocked to sleep by his mom and dad.

E, C, and B! Thank you so much for such a delightful session. It was so special to meet little B and make these photos for him. And to see you all as a family — how absolutely wonderful! Cheers to you all and the many exciting adventures ahead for you!

I was so tickled to hear from Joanna and Taylor that they were expecting a little boy (I’d photographed their wedding back in 2019), and that they wanted to have baby S’s Lolo Montana newborn photos at The Jack, where they had been married!

Even more special was that our session date was originally S’s due date. This adorable little guy was two weeks old at his session and he was such a sweetheart. He snoozed a bit, didn’t fuss, and generally had a good time chilling out, looking around at all the trees surrounding him. He especially loved snuggles from his parents and grandparents, and enjoyed grasping the occasional finger here and there.

Because it was such a smoky summer this year, we were a little concerned we were going to have to worry about that for S’s session, but we completely lucked out with a little pocket of blue skies, nearly zero smoke, and temperatures that weren’t scorching! Phew!

Joanna and Taylor! Thank you again for asking me to document your sweet little man — I’m so very happy for all three of you, and just love seeing you as new parents! He is one lucky little lad! Congratulations again!

I was so excited when Taylor contacted me about making some baby and family photos at her family’s place on Flathead Lake, because I had photographed her little sister, Kristi’s, senior photos there 7 years prior! Not only that, but I had made a few images of Taylor and Matt during that session, too. And they had only just been dating at the time! Fast forward a few years, and Taylor and Matt are married now and have a darling little baby boy, Maximilian!

Max was 2 months old during our most recent session, and what a little trooper he was! He loved looking at the sky, getting kisses from his doggo siblings, is a huge fan of all of his parents’ smiles and tickles, thinks his Aunt Colleen and Uncle Carter are pretty rad, and got super jazzed when he had the opportunity to stand on the dock (with a little help from his mom). Max wasn’t the biggest fan of hanging out in a bowl of cherries, though it was still pretty cute. (There’s a cherry orchard on the property, and Taylor and Matt told me that it’s become a family tradition to photograph their family’s babies in bowls of cherries.)

As per usual, Flathead Lake and Montana treated us to a gorgeous backdrop with a stunner of a sunset – you know, to put the proverbial cherry on top of the session. (Sorry, not sorry for that pun!)

I could go on and on here, but I’ll let the photos speak for themselves – it was such a special evening with everyone!

Taylor, Matt, Max, Carter and Colleen (and doggos, too!) Thank you so much for a truly delightful session – I loved getting to see you again, and am so glad you got to spend some time introducing little mister Max to Montana! What a sweetheart he is – congrats again!

Getting to see and documents my clients’ milestones in their lives will always be one of my most favorite things to photograph. When Christine and Anders told me they were pregnant with their first baby and they wanted me to photograph her newborn images upon her arrival, suffice it to say, I was ecstatic! And little miss Emilia’s Missoula newborn baby session was just a treat!

Her fur siblings (Misha and Sam) were pretty darn excited for the session too, and it’s clear just how much they love their newest little human. (And Misha just always loves to work it for the camera, which always has us all cracking up. haha!)

Emilia was one month at the time of her session, and she was all about cuddles, taking snack breaks when modeling for the camera was too much, and generally getting doted on by her parents.

I became absolutely smitten with Emilia’s most darling tiny nose (to which Christine gave many, many kisses). And Anders especially loved to squish Emilia’s most squishable of cheeks.

But the best part of this session was getting to see Christine and Anders as new parents. The depth of the love they have for their little girl is so beautifully apparent. Getting to watch them simply gaze at their sweet baby nearly had me all kerfluffled (in the best way possible of course), because dang – life is beautiful!

To top it off, I got to hold little miss Emilia at the end of our session, and I nearly melted. (Glad we didn’t get pics of that, haha!)

Christine, Anders, Emilia, Misha and Sam – I am always just filled with joy getting to spend time with you – and I love, love, loved getting to meet Emilia! Congrats to all of you on this beautiful, amazing new adventure! Here’s to an exciting future! And thank you again for having me document the start of this new journey for you all!

I was just so gosh darn excited when Melissa contacted me to ask about making some photos of her, her husband, Sean, and their 2-month-old baby girl, Emma for their Missoula family and baby photos while they were in town visiting! We’d had such a great time together capturing their wedding day, so I knew the photos with their newest little addition would be such a treat!

As was the theme this summer, we had to dodge some raindrops (and some thunder, which safely stayed far, far away from us), but everyone handled it beautifully. It turns out that Emma seemed to really love the Montana breeze on her adorable smiling cheeks and blowing through her baby hair – it literally had her grinning for us!

She was the cutest little trooper as a few raindrops fell here and there, and had us all cooing at her grins! Emma kept us on the move, too, as she’s a girl with places to go and people to see, and she’s clearly captured the hearts of her two proud parents.

Speaking of parents, it was so fun to see Melissa and Sean in their new roles, which they’re excelling at! Sean was the kindest, making sure Melissa and Emma always had an umbrella if needed, and Melissa was right there by Emma’s side to ensure her tiny tootsies didn’t get too chilled in the sprinkles.

Melissa, Sean and Emma! Thank you again for such a delightful session – I still can’t get over what a sweet family of three you are, and loved getting to meet little miss Emma! Thank you so much for sharing your joy with me and those darling little baby smiles of Emma’s – here’s to your newest adventure together and congratulations again!

I recently photographed Becka and Stephan’s maternity photos, so I was beyond excited to get to meet little mister Brayden to make his Lolo Montana newborn images – and he did fabulously during his session at only 13 days new!

He did a most excellent job of demonstrating his eating, snuggling, yelling and finger-grabbing abilities and had us all enraptured with his sweet little face and adorable tiny fingers and toes.

Even Daisy the family dog got to pop in for a few images too – I think Brayden is a dog-whisperer at heart!

One of the most amazing things about newborn sessions is getting to watch my past couples turn into parents (I’ve photographed Becka and Stephan’s family session, wedding, rock the dress session, maternity session and now Brayden’s newborn images!). Stephan and Becka are naturals and Brayden’s big brothers, Brodee and Blayz clearly love their new little brother too (including making sure he gets initiated with some big-brother nose boops!).

Thanks again Becka, Stephan, Brodee, Blayz, Brayden and Daisy for such a sweet session! I always love getting to photograph your family and I’m so excited to have been able to document Brayden’s newborn stage – here’s to capturing all the milestones for you over the years! And congrats again on your newest addition! What a little love Brayden is!

Oh goodness me – what an absolute blast I had with Katie, Anthony and Dominic for their Missoula family, maternity and baby photos the other day. I was so, so excited when Katie contacted me about making these images because 1) I just adore them (I photographed both their engagement and wedding)  and 2) I hadn’t yet met mister 14-month-old Dominic yet! AND Katie told me she’s due with another little one at the end of January – so there is a lot to be excited about!

Not surprisingly, Dominic is completely adorable. For having just learned to walk about a month before their session, he motored around very well and navigated the tall grass with only a few (soft) tumbles here and there. He also was enamored of the view (as in, he literally could not stop staring at the mountains – so cute!), loved pointing at things, definitely holds a soft spot for all things rock, and really enjoyed playing in the dirt and taste-testing it too.

He had a blast “chasing after” and “getting” his mom and dad, and would fall into them and cuddle hard. They’d shower him with kisses and hugs and, good gravy, folks! They’re such a sweet family!

Dominic was also extremely curious about what I was up to and would toddle to me as well, bestowing smiles and hugs upon me (melt my heart, mister Dom!).

We all had such a fabulous time laughing and dancing and pointing at rocks. When we weren’t doing this, Anthony treated Dominic to shoulder rides, and Dom treated Anthony to some new hairdos – haha! Dominic also really loved it when I made my camera fly through the air and “swoosh” at him which elicited all sorts of smiles and giggles. Which, of course, nearly rendered me into a pool of heart-meltiness all over again.

Katie, Anthony and “Vacation Dom!” Oh my gosh, you guys! It’s such an understatement to say how much I loved getting to hang with you and document your new stage in life as parents and family. I always know my face will get a workout from smiling and laughing so much when I’m around you, and this latest session was no exception. Thank you again for having me capture this little slice of life with you all – here’s to more Montana visits in the future! :) :)

I tell you, there’s nothing better than getting to document such happy milestones in people’s lives. And I’ve been so honored to get to photograph Kelci and Michael’s happiest moments – from their engagement, to their wedding, to their maternity images and now to their adorable daughter Hallie’s Missoula newborn baby photos!

I was so excited to get to meet miss Hallie, and my word is she ever adorable! Hallie was wide awake and bright-eyed for our session, and so eager to look at the world at only 6 days new! She has got the cutest, softest cheeks (that just demand a little gentle squishing), the sweetest little toes and fingers, and she’s got her parents’ calm and happy demeanor, too!

She was such a little superstar for her newborn session and barely fussed at all. And even when she did, Michael just hummed to her in a low tone and she immediately relaxed, settled down, closed her eyes and blissed out. Pretty amazing to watch that!

It goes without saying I suppose, but part of why I love these sessions is getting to see couples in their new roles as parents. And Kelci and Michael are every bit the superstars that their daughter is too. They can’t take their eyes off of her (I couldn’t either and can absolutely see why!), they work so well together as a team, and they are just over the moon in love with little Hallie. Being able to document that pure love just about melts me completely, and is one of my favorite, favorite things.

Kelci and Michael and Hallie! Thank you again for such a sweet, love-filled session! I’ve said this a bazillion times, but I just loved getting to meet Hallie (seriously, I could barely muster myself to pack up and head out!), and even more so, I loved getting to see you three as the beautiful new family that you are. Thank you so much for inviting me into your lives to document these special new stages – being able to do this for you just makes my heart sing! Congrats, congrats, congrats again to the three of you!
