I love photographing this time of year - the late spring yields lush greens, dramatic Montana skies, and lots of brightly colored wildflowers. It was even more fun to meet up with Carol and her family for their Missoula family portrait session. We walked the hills, made wishes on flowers, laughed a ton, and managed to dodge a few raindrops while we were at it. Carol, thanks again for such a great session with your beautiful family! It was such a pleasure to meet you all! On the docket: wedding season is in full swing so stay tuned for lots of weddings and portraits coming up! Cheers, -Kristine ...
Skipping Rocks and Sharing Smiles :: {Ashley, Adam and Iris’s Missoula Family Photos}
Autumn days are some of my favorites - oftentimes there's still lingering warmth from the summer, but something changes that sets it apart from those long warm days - the scent in the air shifts as the leaves turn color and fall to the ground, and the air feels a bit more crisp. Ashley, Adam, their daughter, Iris, and I all got together to make the most of this time of year and create some Missoula family photos of them just having a good time with one another, skipping rocks, giggling, running through the grass, dancing, and playing in the water. I love these types of sessions where everyone gets to just "be," and enjoy interacting with ...
Laughter and Milkshakes :: {Jessica, Robert and Rae’s Missoula Portraits}
When Jessica called me up to talk about setting up a time to make some images with her grandmother, Rae, while she and her boyfriend (now fiancé! congrats!!!), Robert, were in town I was pretty excited. Jessica has good memories of visiting Missoula and her grandmother, so this kind of session was just perfect. We wandered around downtown as Rae shared the history of some of the buildings with us, and we stopped off for a milkshake and italian cream soda and had the absolute pleasure of listening to some of Rae's amazing and hilarious stories. (She's got 92 years worth of stories to tell!) She had us all in stitches, and I swear, I ...
Flathead Lake Fun :: {The Connolly Family’s Bigfork Portraits}
There's something about Flathead Lake that is just so magical. So when Sarah asked me about coming up to Bigfork to meet up with her and her family who were all going to be together to celebrate her dad's 70th birthday, I was excited. It ended up being a super hot day (think 98 some degrees!), but that didn't faze this group one bit! The kiddos kept us going and we had a nice time wandering the areas near the lake, as well as even taking a wade into the lake itself. The girls had a lot of fun showing off their rock-throwing skills, got kisses from their grandpa, and led us all in a little walkabout. Thanks again, you guys! It was so ...
Furry Friends :: {Heather and Matt’s Missoula Family Portraits with their “Four-Leggeds”}
It's always so nice seeing Heather and Matt (whose gorgeous Glacier wedding I photographed last year!), and this time when I got together with them, I had the pleasure of meeting the four-legged members of their family too - Hailey and Abby the cats, and Dyson and Eureka the dogs. Heather and Matt absolutely adore their furry family members, and as an animal-lover myself, it's so sweet to see that same feeling in others as well. We had a great time soaking up the sun and the beautiful Missoula vista, racing hither and thither to photograph the cats (I may have been doing just as much rolling around in the grass as they were), and enjoying ...
Celebrating 50 Years :: {The Hooper’s 50th Anniversary at Flathead Lake}
I met up with the Hoopers, their kids and grandkids at Flathead Lake in Polson the other day, as they all gathered to celebrate Don and Gayle's 50 years of marriage - what an impressive milestone! Their family had come from all over the states to help celebrate, so we wanted to make some nice portraits of all of them while they were together in Montana. And what a great group they were! We had such a great time, giggling and laughing as we made our more traditional images. And then, because it's Flathead Lake, we let loose with the kids and had fun with some yoga poses and cheer moves. Thank you again, everybody! I had such a wonderful ...
Three Generations of Love and Smiles :: {Cheyenne’s Graduation and Three Generation Celebration}
It is always such a treat to get to work with clients multiple times, so when Cheyenne contacted me asking me if we could meet up again, this time with her mother and grandmother, to make some portraits to celebrate her graduation from the University of Montana and also celebrate the fact that three generations of her family were together, I was excited and jumped at the chance! We managed to dodge the raindrops (for the most part - we got a bit soaked as soon as we finished our portraits - see the last image to view the clouds we were up against), and had such a great time. These ladies obviously have a blast together, and it was so much ...
Graduation Celebration! :: {Dylan’s University of Montana Graduation and Family Portraits}
Graduation weekend at the University of Montana means there's a certain happy, excited energy in the air around Missoula that is always such a cool feeling, and makes me think back upon my own experiences graduating from college and graduate school. You're nervous, you're happy, you're relieved, you're stoked for the next chapter of your life, and you're grateful for those who helped support you in your academic pursuits - usually your awesome family and friends. Such was the case for Dylan, and we got together to make some portraits of him to celebrate his graduation from the University of Montana with a degree in Geology. He had ...
Playful Puppy! :: {The Sharkey Family’s Missoula Pet Portrait Session}
It was so fun to meet up with the Sharkey family the other day to make some portraits of their family - and their newest member, 12-week old golden lab, Kuba! I'm pretty sure we all got a workout from running around after Kuba and from laughing so much! He definitely stole the show, and even showed off his talents at learning how to be a bird dog (i.e. figuring out the pheasant scent). Thank you again for taking time out of your evening to make some fun images! It was such a treat to meet you all and indulge in some puppy time, which I absolutely adore. :) Ok folks...are you ready to melt? Fair warning...there's a lot of adorable ...
A Tiny Nose and Sweet Little Toes – {Liam’s Missoula Newborn Session}
It was so nice to swing by Tracey and Will's place the other day to photograph their sweet little nine-day-old baby boy, Liam. He was an absolute dream - fluffy hair, wide eyes (he didn't want to sleep on the job during his modeling gig!), and such darling little toes and fingers - I could go on and on. It was so fun to see Tracey and Will so smitten with their little one, and I had such a great time documenting their absolute adoration of their beautiful baby boy. But the photos speak volumes, so I'll pipe down and let you take a peek for yourselves. Just a quick warning: you may melt. I totally did. Congratulations again on your ...
