When people ask me to photograph them with their pets, I admittedly always get a little excited (ok, a LOT excited), because pets and their people are seriously the Best. Thing. Ever. And when I'm told that the session will include a puppy and an older dog too...well then. It's no surprise that my heart completely melted during Kristy's Victor Montana pet and family pictures. I met up with Kristy, Dug, her 10-year-old golden retriever, and Sven, her 12-week-old golden retriever puppy at Kristy's friend's ranch in Victor. It seriously couldn't have been a more idyllic setting - the ranch land is rugged and beautiful, and full of areas ...
Tiffany + Christian :: Missoula Montana Couple’s Portrait Session
I'm always a fan of those who are fans of water. There's something about a rushing creek that just makes me happy, especially the clear and crisp Montana streams that are plentiful and gorgeous. Tiffany and Christian also appreciate the beauty found in water, and really, all around our pretty state, so it was important to them that we be able to capture that in their Missoula Montana couple's portrait session while they were here visiting from Texas. We had to deal with some smoky, slightly apocalyptic skies, but that didn't keep us from having a great time wandering through the woods, wading in the water, and really enjoying making ...
Pampered Pets :: Elizabeth’s Missoula Pet Portraits
I'm a huge animal fan, so when Elizabeth contacted me about doing some Missoula pet portraits for her business, Equus and Paws, I was excited to work with her (and her pet friends!). Elizabeth offers dog grooming as well as pet sitting and dog walking in Missoula. She also has specialties in both canine and equine massage. During our session we wanted to demonstrate these things in our images (as well as a few fun portraits of Elizabeth and her horse, Spice) - so take a peek below to see for yourself how Elizabeth works. Thank you again, Elizabeth for such a great session! It was so fun to meet some of the dogs and horses you work with. ...
Brooke :: University of Montana Graduation Portraits
Brooke was so enthusiastic when she contacted me to make some University of Montana graduation portraits and headshots of her to use for her graduation invites and in the professional world. I knew we'd have a great time working together because of her awesome positive energy. And we even lucked out with gorgeous spring weather and lovely light (although I swear, that 70 degrees sure felt like summer to me!). Brooke's also got THE most sparkly blue eyes I've ever seen - no need to visit the Caribbean - just check out Brooke's eyes! We had such a nice time laughing and chatting about her plans for the future during our quick little session. ...
Mountain Running :: {Lolo and Trapper’s Missoula Pet Portraits}
I have a huge soft spot for animals and love capturing them doing what they love, so when Pam contacted me to ask about making some portraits of her two dogs, Trapper and Lolo, I was more than a little excited. And we had SO much fun! Trapper and Lolo were thrilled to be out running in Missoula's snow and the sun, though I think they thought our walk was a little strange (why do you silly humans keep stopping to make clicking noises with that boxy contraption?), but they were so good and I think we all left with perma-grins plastered to our faces. We've also come to the conclusion that Trapper had better start working on L.L. Bean to get ...
Montanniversary :: {Aaron and Sarah’s Missoula, Montana Anniversary Photos}
Last year, after enjoying my friend Ali's annual Montana visit, she and I couldn't help but chit chatting about how we needed to get her brother, Aaron, and his wife, Sarah, to visit the following year as well. This set into motion an idea that we'd surprise them with a Montana anniversary photo session to celebrate their first year of marriage. Fast forward one year and Ali and I were giddy to finally make this idea happen. After spending the most delightful day taking a quick hike to some hot springs, soaking in the placid pools, dashing into cold creeks to cool off, scarfing down huckleberries, and hitting up a backwoods saloon for ...
Stunning in Sequins :: {Lynnae’s Missoula Portrait Session}
My brain is always on overdrive, thinking of new things I'd like to try in my photography, so it was such a treat to meet Lynnae, who answered my model call to help me out with said new idea. (And if you'd like to hear when I have these model calls, hop on over to my Facebook page and become a liker to stay in the know. You don't even have to be a model, per se - I prefer to work with people without modeling experience, and we have a grand ol' time!) It was a ridiculously hot evening, but she definitely kept her cool and we had a blast as she had fun in front of the camera and indulged my whims. The light was seriously scrumptious and ...
Laughter and Milkshakes :: {Jessica, Robert and Rae’s Missoula Portraits}
When Jessica called me up to talk about setting up a time to make some images with her grandmother, Rae, while she and her boyfriend (now fiancé! congrats!!!), Robert, were in town I was pretty excited. Jessica has good memories of visiting Missoula and her grandmother, so this kind of session was just perfect. We wandered around downtown as Rae shared the history of some of the buildings with us, and we stopped off for a milkshake and italian cream soda and had the absolute pleasure of listening to some of Rae's amazing and hilarious stories. (She's got 92 years worth of stories to tell!) She had us all in stitches, and I swear, I ...
Furry Friends :: {Heather and Matt’s Missoula Family Portraits with their “Four-Leggeds”}
It's always so nice seeing Heather and Matt (whose gorgeous Glacier wedding I photographed last year!), and this time when I got together with them, I had the pleasure of meeting the four-legged members of their family too - Hailey and Abby the cats, and Dyson and Eureka the dogs. Heather and Matt absolutely adore their furry family members, and as an animal-lover myself, it's so sweet to see that same feeling in others as well. We had a great time soaking up the sun and the beautiful Missoula vista, racing hither and thither to photograph the cats (I may have been doing just as much rolling around in the grass as they were), and enjoying ...
Three Generations of Love and Smiles :: {Cheyenne’s Graduation and Three Generation Celebration}
It is always such a treat to get to work with clients multiple times, so when Cheyenne contacted me asking me if we could meet up again, this time with her mother and grandmother, to make some portraits to celebrate her graduation from the University of Montana and also celebrate the fact that three generations of her family were together, I was excited and jumped at the chance! We managed to dodge the raindrops (for the most part - we got a bit soaked as soon as we finished our portraits - see the last image to view the clouds we were up against), and had such a great time. These ladies obviously have a blast together, and it was so much ...
