I hope you all got a chance to step outside last evening and witness the gigantic moon hanging low over the hilltops and reflecting into the Clark Fork - seriously beautiful. I was hoping to see some northern lights, which didn't happen, but my...the moon sure was a good substitute. This photo isn't from last night, but I was reminded that I still had it hanging out, waiting to be shared, and today seemed like a good day for that. Enjoy! This was taken this past June after George and Emily's super fun engagement session. This image is way more gigantic than I'd normally post, but I figured the moon kind of merits that treatment. On the ...
Visitors from the North – {Snowy Owls in Montana}
This is a bit of a departure from what I normally post....not a portrait session (of people anyway), and much too long for a Wordless Wednesday post......but I really want to share these images with you because, quite simply: Owls Are Cool. Especially snowy owls. And especially since they've been hanging out with us here in Montana. Snowy owls don't usually spend all that much time in our area, so it's pretty rare to see them. They'll hop on down here every 5 or 6 years or so, and when they do...oh my gosh...go and see them! Admittedly, I may be slightly biased because I kind of LOVE birds (ok, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY love birds), but ...
Nature’s Paint Palette – {Wordless Wednesday}
I love color unabashedly. If you follow my work, it's probably fairly obvious how much I love color. I love it even more so when it grows wild and oh-so-incredibly-beautifully. Seriously - it's amazing what our world gives us to feast our eyes upon. So, today's Wordless Wednesday comes from a recent mountaintop stroll of mine: {Nature's Paint Palette - A Study in Wildflowers} On the docket: weddings and engagement sessions! Yippee! Cheers! -Kristine ...
Jumping Quail! – {Wordless Wednesday}
I headed over to Portland the other day for a working vacation and on my way there, stopped in Spokane to visit my most wonderful grandparents. They're avid birders and were showing me the little quail crew that comes near their house for a visit each morning and evening. Quail, in my opinion, are already pretty funny, so this photo just makes me laugh even more than usual.... Jumping Quail! I know that was a lot of words for a "Wordless Wednesday" post, but I wanted to give a bit of background. Plus, I was an English major back in the day.... :) On the docket: engagement and portrait sessions, as soon as I get over this cold I've ...
Vegetable Bouquet – {Wordless Wednesday}
I make a lot of photos that don't actually end up on the blog. A lot of them are just for fun, some just don't fit in the space I allot myself, and....oh, I don't know. I get busy and just don't post them. But, I've decided to remedy that by doing a Wordless Wednesday post each week. I'll be blogging one image or series of images, with little to no explanation needed. For the very first Worldess Wednesday, I'm sharing the following...... { Vegetable Bouquet } Cheers! -Kristine ...
Great Egret :: Birds at the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge
On another one of my photo adventures with my visiting brother, we checked out the Lee Metcalf Wildlife Refuge. I'd never been before, and it was definitely worth the trip. It's a gorgeous spot with all sorts of bird activity. I should mention, I love birds. LOVE 'em. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that I grew up with canaries as pets and have two pet birds of my own (Flash the parrotlet and Mozart the canary). Or my love for them could be because they're just so darn cool. Don't tell me you aren't envious of their wings and ability to fly! Anyway, these are some of my favorite photos from our excursion - enjoy! The ...
Where the deer and the antelope play :: Visiting the National Bison Range in Montana
I took a little trip the other day to the National Bison Range since I'd never actually been before. (Shame, shame!) Since it's not tourist season yet, it was pretty quiet up there, but that made the trip so nice. Meadowlarks sang their pretty little songs, the bison munched on grass and pronghorn antelope used teasle to scratch the things that itched. It's gorgeous at the range - stunning mountainous backdrops, rolling hills...all good stuff. Anyone want to do a photo shoot there? :) Ok - now for the pics. Enjoy! Also, coming up on the blog: a recipe for hummus that's downright addictive! Plus, more fun stuff, ...
