It was so fun to photograph Rilee and Nick’s colorful autumn engagement photos – not only because we timed our session perfectly and were treated to some absolutely brilliant yellows oranges and reds, but because these two are just a blast to work with! I’d photographed Nick’s older brother Jamie’s wedding a few years earlier, so when Rilee and Nick contacted me about doing their engagement and wedding photos I knew we’d click (no pun intended!).

As was standard for this year, we had some rain clouds threatening in the background as well as a few raindrops to start out our session. But thankfully the impending storm skirted around us and allowed us to meander, chat and spend a lot of time cracking up together!

Part of why Rilee and Nick chose the location they did for their session was because Nick had actually proposed to Rilee not far from where we were photographing! They also invited their 7-year-old dog, Bear, into a few of their images too!

Bear is just the sweetest doggo, and was all about sharing in the excitement of the day, including giving both Rilee and Nick some big “Bear” hugs! And then giving us all funny looks when our walk didn’t really turn into one that made sense to him. (Humans, why do you keep stopping to kiss one another? haha)

Suffice it to say, I’m super stoked to get to photograph Rilee and Nick’s upcoming 2020 wedding, and can tell we’re going to continue having a blast on their wedding day as well!

Rilee and Nick – congrats again! I know you said you were a little nervous about being in front of the camera, but as I told you the day of your session, you don’t have a thing to worry about, and I cannot wait for June to get here! :) Woo hoo! Way to rock your session, you two!

Autumn was in its prime when I met up with Guy and Teresa and their two adorable miniature schnauzers, Sophie and Königin, for their Missoula fall engagement photos. We were even treated to some downright balmy weather as we wandered along the river making images against the beautiful fall colors.

The dogs had a great time exploring (and photo bombing us – haha!) while Guy, Teresa and I chatted and laughed. As it turns out, Guy and Teresa are both very interested in photography. Guy told me he used to be a wedding photographer and also did some work for papers in the Orange County area when he lived there, and Teresa also does some photography in addition to her government job in Helena.

I’m pretty sure we all left with giant smiles plastered to our faces after such a fun, happy session. (I know I did!) Thank you again, Guy and Teresa (and Sophie and Königin, too!) for such a delightful evening – it was such a pleasure to meet you all and have such a great time making these images for you! And last, but certainly not least, congratulations again on your engagement!

It’s an understatement to say just how fun Bailey and Andrew’s Missoula autumn engagement photos were to make – I’m fairly certain we laughed our heads off the entire shoot! And that’s always a good thing in my book. It was even more fun to see just how much these two enjoy one another, and how much in love they are.

As we were walking during our session, Bailey and Andrew told me that they met while in high school and were best friends, but didn’t start dating until a bit later. Suffice it to say, they fell in love and now they’re engaged! Andrew’s in school focusing on chemistry and biology and Bailey is finishing up a nursing degree.

During our shoot, we had such a great time wandering the woods (so beautiful this time of year), and we were even treated to an owl swooping by us while we were shooting. (So silent, so beautiful, so cool!)

And, because we were having such a good time, I’ve included a few of Bailey and Andrew’s funnier outtakes from our session, because, as Bailey put it, “they are a good picture of our relationship haha :)” – what a great way to be! (Can you guess which image happened post owl surprise?)

Bailey and Andrew – thank you again for such a wonderful session! It was so great to meet you both, and I absolutely loved that I got to laugh so much with the two of you as we made your photos. It was such a treat to see how much you love one another, and I can imagine your life will be filled with happiness! Congratulations again on your engagement and your upcoming wedding!

There is something just so magical about autumn – maybe it’s because it feels like its beauty can be so fleeting so we must absolutely soak it up while we can. The leaves are green one day, and then suddenly there’s a chill in the air, the clouds turn a dark gray, the sky seems bluer against that gray, the light turns a bit more golden and whammo! we’re surrounded by a world full of brilliant oranges, golds and reds.

Kelci, Michael and I definitely made the most of the truly stunning autumn Missoula was treated to this year, and though it was a wee bit on the chilly side during our shoot, they toughed it out and we all had such a great time as we took a little walkabout and made some fun photos of the two of them.

These two are so sweet and so much fun – they love to laugh together (my favorite!) and that definitely came through in our session. We also swung by the Wilma because it’s got special significance in their relationship, as they met for the first time there when going to see a show.

By the time we declared “that’s a wrap!” on the session, we were all grinning from ear to ear – my cheeks hurt from smiling so much! (Always a great thing!)

Wow, you two! What an absolutely awesome time! I am SO excited for you both and cannot wait to photograph your wedding next summer! Sending hugs, smiles and lots of laughter your way!
