It was so lovely to meet up with Kali, Adam, Sloan and Beau for their Missoula family photos in the fall, and we were lucky enough to catch the colors in the leaves before they all quickly vanished just a few short days later. Sloan, age two, kept us moving from location to location as she explored the world around her, and particularly loved getting to "swing" as her parents held her hands. She giggled, grinned widely and asked for more time flying high in the sky! Beau was a trooper as well, and at 8 months old, was one happy little guy. That is, until we introduced him to leaves, which he decidedly did NOT like, which had us all ...
Christy, Neil + Rowan :: Missoula Fall Family Photos
It's always such a huge compliment to me to get to hear from couples I've made images for on their wedding day, and get to work with them again for their family sessions! So when I heard that Christy, Neil and their one-year-old son, Rowan were looking to make some Missoula fall family photos, you can bet I was excited! Christy and Neil's Glacier wedding was beautiful, and they're basically the sweetest people on the planet, so I knew we'd have a blast during their family session. We hit the jackpot with colorful autumn tones, and Rowan was just the happiest little guy. He loved exploring, belly-laughing at his dad's antics, giggling at my ...
Keegan, Anze, Mikko, Kristi & Skylar :: Missoula Fall Family Photos
Oh my - it's an understatement to say that autumn in October in Montana is pretty darn special. But when I have the pleasure of making Missoula fall family photos for returning clients, it's even better! I got to meet up again with Keegan and his boys Anze and Mikko (I had a blast photographing them during their family session last summer), and this time Kristi and her daughter, Skylar, joined in the fun too. The kids had a fantastic time exploring our surroundings, climbing logs, jumping off the logs, finding super special rocks (both to throw and to keep), locating intriguing sticks, exclaiming over soft moss and pretty leaves, "roaring" ...
Piper + Family :: Florence Montana Lifestyle Newborn Photos
I think one of the best parts of my job is getting to photograph families as they grow. So when Lindsay contacted me to ask about doing Florence Montana lifestyle newborn photos of her sweet little baby girl, Piper, I was just tickled! Not only was I excited to meet Piper, but I was so looking forward to seeing Lindsay and Scott and their daughter, Madison again - whom I'd photographed two years earlier in 2015 as a newborn herself. It is such a huge understatement to say just how much I loved their session. Piper was as sweet as can be at twelve days new, and pretty awake and alert just like her big sister had been during her session too! ...
Tim, Courtney, Teddy, Violet, Bill and Lorie :: Flathead Lake Family Portraits in Polson Montana
I'm just going to come right out with it - I absolutely, unequivocally adored Tim, Courtney, Teddy, Violet, Bill and Lorie's Flathead Lake family portraits in Polson Montana. Not only are they such a sweet family, but they were willing to just have fun, play with their kiddos and let their kids be kids with them. That to me is the definition of a perfect family session. No rigid line-ups in front of the camera. No constant adjustments of clothing. No commands to force smiles. Instead we goofed around on their slide, we picked cherries (and three-almost-four-year-old Teddy insisted I have one too and was kind enough to remind me to "spit ...
Becka, Stephan, Blayz, Brodee and Daisy :: Springtime Family Photos in Missoula
It is a complete understatement to say just how much fun it was making Becka, Stephan, Blayz, Brodee and Daisy's springtime family photos in Missoula. Becka was so positive and happy about this shoot as we talked about setting it up, so I knew we'd have a great time, and boy did we ever! We managed to snag ourselves a perfect spring evening - the light was golden, the grass was lush and green, and it was just beckoning everyone to have fun and play! And play we did! That's something I love doing in family sessions, especially with kids where it can be challenging for them to hear "hold still," "let me fix your hair," "smile!" That rarely ...
The Lubbers Family :: Missoula Family Portraits in the Spring
I was so happy to hear from the Lubbers family as they were really excited to get some Missoula family portraits in the spring, and also celebrate the recent second birthday of their littlest one. Sadie was so enthusiastic about their session when she contacted me, so I knew we'd have a great time taking advantage of the lush landscapes we've got right now (thanks to all that rain we've been getting lately!). Speaking of rain, we were a little nervous we might get a few drops headed our direction, but luckily the weather held out and we were treated to a gorgeous springtime evening in Missoula for their family portraits. As the gray, fluffy ...
Emilia :: First Birthday Party Celebration in Frenchtown, Montana
It's been such a treat getting to work with Emilia's family these past several months, so to be able to document her very first birthday party celebration at her grandpa's house in Frenchtown was super special. All sorts of friends and family were there to help Emilia celebrate and the house was decorated to the nines with balloons, pictures and streamers of all sorts to really get the first birthday mood set! Emilia snacked on pineapple and carrots and doled out hugs as birthday guests packed the house in preparation for the party to really get started. Soon it was time for the "Happy Birthday" song to be sung to the birthday girl, and ...
The Andersons :: Missoula Montana Fall Family Pictures
When I first began chatting with Cierra about having Missoula Montana fall family pictures done, I knew we'd have such a great time working together, because her main goal was to capture her family's silliness and just how much love is in her little family. That's something I can absolutely get behind! And I'd like to think we did just that. Josh and Cierra's baby girl, Emilia, was so much fun to photograph, and definitely had a good time in front of the camera. She was pretty excited about the grass we came across, the dogs she got to see, and especially loved being flipped upside down and getting to "fly" high in the sky. These three ...
The Bradley Family :: Missoula Montana Fall Family Portraits
I've had the pleasure of photographing the Bradley family since 2010 (oh my, where does the time go?!), so I was of course excited to be photographing their Missoula Montana fall family portraits again this year. They are such a beautiful, happy family, and it really is such a treat to see the kids grow up over the years. We lucked out with a gorgeous autumn day in Missoula for their session - the sun was shining, the leaves were golden, and everyone was happy and excited. The kids skipped through the leaves, tossed rocks and had a great time racing through the tall, willowy grasses. Karu even scaled some trees! Joss was happy to dole out ...
