I was so happy to get a message from Will's mom, Dana, saying that she'd like to make some Missoula children's portraits of Will at this stage in his life (he's 5-years-old) and that she'd like to document him in one of his favorite places. I just adore sessions like this because they're less about posed images and more about capturing Will just as he is. Which is exactly what we did. And, just as I suspected, we had a blast! We had our session in a place that Will visits often, and he led the way, dashing off excitedly to show me some of his favorite nooks and crannies in the woods. He shared with me his love of pretty autumn leaves (red ...
Fritz, Alison, Harry and CeCe :: Family Portraits in Potomac Montana
I always love getting to make portraits of families at their homes, so when Fritz, Alison, Harry and CeCe invited me to photograph their family portraits in Potomac Montana at their home, I was pretty darn excited. It ended up being a really rainy day (in Missoula the skies were dark and stormy and it poured on me as I drove out to Potomac). We were a little nervous we'd have to be dodging raindrops, but the storm skirted around their home and we were even treated to some truly gorgeous light as our session moved along. Always a nice little bonus! We all had such a fun time walking through the woods, scouting out the best flowers and ...
Keegan, Anze and Mikko :: Missoula Father and Son Portraits
I was so happy to hear from Keegan when he contacted me about having Missoula father and son portraits made with his boys, Anze and Mikko. There's just something so special about the connection between a dad and his boys, and I'm so glad he wanted to document it. Anze and Mikko (and Keegan too, of course!) were such troopers and we had a great time searching the river for fishies, racing through the grass, making wishes on flowers, and hunting for grasshoppers (that Anze very successfully found!). The boys loved getting tickles from their dad and each other, Anze made sure Mikko didn't actually eat any of the pine needles he was trying so ...
Amelia and her Family :: Baby Outdoor Cake Smash and Family Photos
It's an understatement to say how much of a treat it was to meet up with Amanda, Travis, Robbie and Amelia again (I had the pleasure of making family photos for them this past autumn, too!). This time it was to make some baby outdoor cake smash and family photos - with Amelia as the star of the show to celebrate her upcoming first birthday! (Happy, happy birthday, Amelia!) Our session took place on a beautiful 82-degree day (in May - holy moly!), and we started out by making some non-cake photos first. It was so fun to walk through the woods with these four, tiptoeing down the length of large logs, finding dandelions, discovering a variety ...
Amanda, Travis, Robbie & Amelia :: Lolo Montana Family Pictures
It's always so fun to me to have the opportunity to make family pictures for people - maybe it's because I've always enjoyed looking at my own from years past, and remarking over how tiny we once were, how much we've all changed, but at the same time, how much we've all stayed the same, too. So it was such a treat to get to meet up with Amanda, Travis, Robbie and Amelia for their Lolo Montana family pictures the other day and capture some memories for them that they'll one day look back on as well. The weather was a little on the crazy side, but everyone was game, and we made it work for us. I'd say things turned out splendidly, even if ...
The Siefert Family :: Missoula Newborn and Family Portraits
When Nicole contacted me about photographing their new baby girl, Marlowe, for Missoula newborn and family portraits I was so excited to get to work with them again. Just a few short years earlier, I had had such a wonderful time photographing their brand new baby boy, Ted! And Ted's now a walking, talking two-year-old who has the cutest little smile and is pretty proud to be a big brother to his baby sister. Ted was happy to share plenty of kisses with Marlowe, he helped me count her fingers, and we all had a blast saying some silly words that got us all cracking up. :) Marlowe rolled with our photo shoot shenanigans, dozed in the warm ...
The Leach Family :: Missoula Montana Creek-Side Family Portraits
Is there anything more wonderful than summertime and playing in cool Montana creeks? Maybe one thing, and that's if you add in a family as adorable as Kari, Ryan, Paul and Jacob. We had such a great time during their Missoula Montana creek-side family portraits - we laughed, we ran, we explored the rushing waters, we scouted for cool rocks, we skipped them, we raced sticks in the stream, we pretended we had fishing poles, and then we did it all again. I can't express enough just how wonderful this session was - it was so real and such a great reminder of what it is to be a little kid in Montana - exploring to the fullest all that makes ...
The Brock Family :: Missoula, Montana Springtime Family Portraits
It was such a pleasure to get to meet up with the Brock family for their springtime family portraits. The girls were bursting with energy and excitement, which is always awesome to see, so we had a blast during their session. We ran, we skipped, we twirled, we exclaimed at wildflowers, we laughed, we giggled - in short, we had such a wonderful time. Thank you again for such a fabulous session - you are such a beautiful, happy family, and it was an absolute treat to make these images for you all! On the docket: portraits and weddings coming up! Don't miss out! Cheers, -Kristine ...
Family Fun! :: The Knutson Family’s Missoula Portrait Session
I love photographing this time of year - the late spring yields lush greens, dramatic Montana skies, and lots of brightly colored wildflowers. It was even more fun to meet up with Carol and her family for their Missoula family portrait session. We walked the hills, made wishes on flowers, laughed a ton, and managed to dodge a few raindrops while we were at it. Carol, thanks again for such a great session with your beautiful family! It was such a pleasure to meet you all! On the docket: wedding season is in full swing so stay tuned for lots of weddings and portraits coming up! Cheers, -Kristine ...
Skipping Rocks and Sharing Smiles :: {Ashley, Adam and Iris’s Missoula Family Photos}
Autumn days are some of my favorites - oftentimes there's still lingering warmth from the summer, but something changes that sets it apart from those long warm days - the scent in the air shifts as the leaves turn color and fall to the ground, and the air feels a bit more crisp. Ashley, Adam, their daughter, Iris, and I all got together to make the most of this time of year and create some Missoula family photos of them just having a good time with one another, skipping rocks, giggling, running through the grass, dancing, and playing in the water. I love these types of sessions where everyone gets to just "be," and enjoy interacting with ...
