Ah, Glacier weddings. How I adore thee so. And Katie and Lee's Lake Josephine Glacier wedding in Glacier National Park this autumn was no exception. The day started out a bit on the wet side (that's an understatement) since we've been having a very rainy fall this year, so we were all glancing at the sky, hoping the rain would hold off for Katie and Lee's ceremony. And, much to our delight, hold off it did! We all gathered at the trailhead, and hiked to Lake Josephine in groups. On our way up, we happened to run into a moose, which is always cool, especially when he's chill about it (which he was, and for which I was glad, as I was wearing ...
Dora + Elliot :: Elopement in Montana at Glacier National Park
Ahhh, Glacier. I simply adore how this magical place holds such meaning for so many people, two of those people being Dora and Elliot who had their elopement in Montana at Glacier National Park. They held their short and wonderfully sweet ceremony on the shores of Lake McDonald, beamed at one another as they spoke their vows, exchanged rings and sealed it all with a kiss as gentle waves delicately lapped at the shoreline. To celebrate their newly-married status, we had a great time touring a section of the park, all the while making photos in some of the jaw-dropping locations that make Glacier an absolute sight to behold. Even more ...
Brittany + John :: West Glacier Elopement in Montana
It was an absolutely brilliant day for Brittany and John's West Glacier elopement in Montana. The sun was winking off Lake McDonald, these two were just beyond excited to get married, and their sweet German Shepherd, Heidi, was the perfect "dog of honor" to witness their ceremony. They smiled and laughed as they exchanged their vows, excitedly exchanged rings and sealed it all with a kiss as Heidi looked on adoringly. It's a huge understatement to say just how fun it was to photograph Brittany and John. They drove to Montana all the way from Virginia, and to celebrate their elopement were doing a sort of national parks tour, with Glacier ...
Hannah + Kevin :: Redfish Lake Lodge Wedding in Stanley, Idaho
It was all blue skies and sparkling waters for Hannah and Kevin's Redfish Lake Lodge Wedding in Stanley, Idaho, but I swear all that beauty was simply mirroring the happiness of these two. Everyone in attendance was so thrilled to be celebrating the marriage of Hannah and Kevin (who met while in the Peace Corps in Costa Rica), and so it was no surprise that beaming faces greeted them as they walked down the aisle while the Sawtooths and Redfish Lake welcomed them in the background as well. Soon Hannah and Kevin exchanged their vows, placed rings on each other's fingers, and there was no shortage of either laughter or tears as they ...
Kristina + Ben :: Darby Montana Elopement at the Triple Creek Ranch
Upon first chatting with Kristina and Ben about their upcoming Darby Montana elopement at the Triple Creek Ranch, I knew that we'd have such a fabulous time making images for the two of them. They love the outdoors, are beyond sweet, and were really excited about visiting Montana for the first time. It also didn't hurt that Kristina's a fellow redhead, and we even share the same initials! I tell you, Meant. To. Be! (And as Kristina would say, "Kismet!") The day of their elopement arrived, and I think we were all a little nervous about how the weather would behave (or misbehave). It had been raining for days and days (which, in Montana, you ...
Christy + Neil :: Intimate Glacier National Park Wedding
Glacier National Park is a truly magical place, so when Christy and Neil got in touch with me about photographing their intimate Glacier National Park Wedding, I was so excited to hear about what they had in mind. And it. Was. Perfect. They both have strong connections to Glacier, and prior to their ceremony, went in search of a spot within the park that just felt right to them. That spot? The Trail of the Cedars. And it truly was right. Christy wowed Neil with their first look, and as guests began to arrive, they both hid away down the trail. Soon, their ceremony started and Christy and Neil made their way down the trail, tiny ...
Monique + Kirkland :: Camrose Hill Flower Farm Wedding in Stillwater Minnesota
Once upon a time, Monique and I were undergrad roommates in college - two years officially and one year living across the hall from one another. We've laughed together, we've cried together, we've concocted crazy Halloween costumes together, we've shared stories, we've busted our bums studying, we've seen each other grow both in and out of college, and we've remained friends ever since. So when Monique contacted me about photographing her Camrose Hill Flower Farm wedding in Stillwater, Minnesota, I was beyond, beyond, beyond happy, excited and honored. To be invited to document and witness one of the happiest days of your friend's life is one ...
Daniella + Rob :: Missoula Montana Rock the Dress Photo Session
Rock the dress sessions are always such a blast for me to photograph, and they're even better when you get to work with a couple like Daniella and Rob who were both just so completely stoked to 1) be in Montana. And 2) to get to just have fun! They traveled all the way here from New Jersey, and totally rocked their Missoula Montana rock the dress photo session, despite the massive amounts of smoke that had poured into the valley from all the wildfires we've been experiencing in the west this summer. (I promise, Daniella and Rob, there really are mountains out there!) Even with all that smoke, I'd be lying if I said it didn't lend an ...
Louisa + Paul :: A Sweet Schenectady, New York Wedding at St. George’s Church
When I first received Louisa's note about potentially photographing her wedding, I was so thrilled and incredibly honored to be asked. Louisa and I both attended Carleton College as undergrads, lived in the same dorm and same floor our freshman year (good ol' Goodhue), and also took multiple English classes together (the Jane Austen class stands out for me especially). It was so fun to hear her talk about her fiance, Paul, and I knew we'd have a great time on her wedding day. Add to that, she was having a Schenectady, New York wedding, and I'm always happy to hop on a plane, get to hang out with old friends, make new ones, and explore a new ...
Married in Mad Town! :: {Anna and Alex’s Madison, Wisconsin Wedding}
I've got to admit - I was beyond giddy when Anna and Alex asked me if I'd photograph their wedding. You see, Anna and I go waaaaay back to when we were little tykes. Her older sister, Christine, and I were best friends (colloquially known as "The Christines"), so we all spent a lot of time together. We exercised our imaginations in the woods by their house, we made silly plays together (that we forced our very patient parents to watch), we turned garage attics into forts, we always tried to persuade our parents to indulge us in Grandpa's Pizza on Wednesday nights, we celebrated birthdays together, we had slumber parties and ate ...
