My brain is always on overdrive, thinking of new things I’d like to try in my photography, so it was such a treat to meet Lynnae, who answered my model call to help me out with said new idea. (And if you’d like to hear when I have these model calls, hop on over to my Facebook page and become a liker to stay in the know. You don’t even have to be a model, per se – I prefer to work with people without modeling experience, and we have a grand ol’ time!)

It was a ridiculously hot evening, but she definitely kept her cool and we had a blast as she had fun in front of the camera and indulged my whims. The light was seriously scrumptious and highlighted Lynnae’s beautiful, bright eyes wonderfully, and we had so much fun on our walkabout, finding little nooks and crannies to pop into for some shots. Honestly – is there anything better than blingy sequins, polka dots, glowing light, a fantastic model and a photo walk? That’s about everything I love in a nutshell right there.

Thanks again, Lynnae, for doing such a beautiful job in front of the camera! You are a natural! Keep finding that light, and if you need more photos in the future, just holler at me. :)

When Miranda and I met up for her senior photos and she showed me her pair of zebra-striped converse sneakers, I was beyond excited. We’d already gotten together before this, and she had told me she loves playing with color and being creative, and, not only that, she also digs photography and plans to attend RMSP after graduation from Big Sky High School.  So…kindred spirits we definitely are, and our session only became more awesome after her sweet shoe-reveal.

What all did our session entail? These are just a few things…

Color? Heck yes. Sweet light? You better believe it. Twirly prom dresses? Oh yeah. Bare feet? Sure thing! Jean jackets? Totally. Laughing our heads off? Always.

Miranda – I had SO much fun photographing you! You did such a fantastic job and left me with a perma-grin. :) I hope you have a truly wonderful senior year and keep pursuing your love of photography!

I always love photographing YWCA Recessionistas (and Recessionisto’s – gotta give a shout out to the guys, too!) to help promote their Secret Seconds stores in Missoula for a few different reasons:

1. Our shoots are always a blast!
2. These volunteer models have mega awesome fashion sense (from clothes they find at the stores – that’s important to know!).
3.  Most importantly, it’s for a great cause!

 
The lovely folks from NCBI Missoula certainly lived up to these three things and, despite it being a bit windy (with the slight danger of going all Mary Poppins on the shoot with our rainbow umbrella), we all had a great time making images for a good cause. And, I’ve got to say, I think I now want everyone I photograph to wear a bright red union suit. (I kid, I kid – but how incredible is THAT find, right?!)

Last but not least, don’t forget why the YWCA is so important to our community – all sales at the Missoula YWCA‘s Secret Seconds thrift stores help women and children in crisis, including the YWCA’s domestic violence shelter. Talk about a great bargain – getting some new-to-you duds AND helping out a great cause. Thrift away my friends!

Lacey and I met up the other day for her model session, all the while crossing our fingers the skies didn’t open and start pouring on us. It was definitely chilly, but the weather cooperated and didn’t saddle us with any raindrops.

Lacey was great to work with, and I was excited that we also had wind to play with. That was certainly cold, but oh-so-worth-it.

It’s always so nice to be able to do something with my photography that really helps give back to the community and makes a difference – especially when it’s as fun as these two shoots were.

I had the pleasure of meeting up with three fabulous ladies from the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC) for their Recessionista shoot for the YWCA Secret Seconds Stores, and these ladies seriously rocked their images – and their clothes! I mean, look at them! They are some stylin’ women! I can’t wait to reveal more ads from their shoot as well. :)

I also got to meet up with some folks from Adventure Cycling and have fun getting some action images with them, all the while looking quite stylish too. Don’t you want to BE them a little bit? I know I was experiencing both bike and outfit envy. :)

Kali and I had quite the adventure during her senior photo session – we seemed to keep hitting rainy days, which was kind of exactly the opposite of what Kali was envisioning for her photos – which was sunny and bright. However, for part of her session she wanted to shoot in more of an urban setting and figured rainy day shooting downtown wouldn’t be so bad – and it wasn’t at all!

After having to reschedule a couple of times due to the sheets and sheets of rain hitting Missoula, she just decided to go for it, and go for it we did! We both got soaked during our rainy day shoot, but had a good time, even if we were a bit chilly after. So, we held out for a sunny day for the rest of her session, and it was perrrrfect! Gorgeous light, a brilliant smile – the whole works.

Kali was such a treat to photograph – and her personality just bubbles through into her photos. She will be a senior at Stevensville High, and hopes to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy. She is a self-described “fashionista,” loves visiting Orange Julius (which we made a stop at!), and is a huge fan of Buckle jeans.

Kali, thank you again for having me shoot your senior photos – you were a BLAST to work with! Here’s to a great senior year for you! :)

It was one of those evenings that photographers (or at least I) really love – warm and sunny with delicious evening light. So Maddy, Alexis, Krista and I all took advantage of it and had fun making some smoldering images for their RMEA portfolios.

It was a bit of a drizzly day when I met up with Taylor for her headshot session, but that certainly didn’t dampen her spirits or the sheer brightness and fun of her shoot. Taylor is currently touring as an actor with the Missoula Children’s Theater in the south east and wanted to update her headshots and website to reflect a more “quirky/comedic” look as she put it. So we went for bright, colorful and fun and I’d say it was a smashing success!

It was a bit of a dreary, overcast day when Brin, Amelia and Leah all met up with me for their model shoot. But we definitely made the most of it (they rocked their shoots!) and the sun even peeked out once or twice for us, too.
