Sarah and Neil traveled all the way from Alaska to get married at Montana Pines Hideaway, a picturesque spot on Seeley Lake that Sarah's family owns. Sarah walked down the aisle naturally created by historic buildings on the property as friends and family watched, many with a tear or two in their eye, especially after the two read their handwritten vows to one another, voices quavering with emotion. Afterwards, guests enjoyed a scrumptious dinner put together by friends and family, and enjoyed a pretty great cake smash followed by lively music. Sarah, and Neil - thank you so much for choosing me to be your photographer - it was an ...
From the South to the West – {Mike and Emily’s Conrad, Montana Farm Wedding}
Sweet and Sincere. Two words that describe Mike and Emily's wedding in Conrad, Montana to a tee. Emily and Mike ventured to Montana for their wedding day all the way from Tennessee. Emily is originally from South Carolina, but spent many a summer in Conrad at her aunt and uncle's farm. More recently, Mike proposed to her there, so it was meant to be to have their wedding celebration at the farm in Conrad. The day couldn't have been more beautiful. Gray clouds streaked the sky, and left more than a few of us wondering if we might have a bit of a wet ceremony, but lo and behold! the sun peeped out just as Mike walked down the aisle to ...
Teal Jeans and Tall Boots – {Brianca and Kallista’s Missoula Fashion Session}
So it kind of feels like it's been raining forever here in Missoula. Which, even though it can irk me, I'm thankful for, since hopefully it keeps the fires at bay over the summer. However, Brianca, Kallista and I lucked out that the sun graced us with its presence during their model session in Missoula for the Rocky Mountain Entertainment Agency - and we had a great time! These young ladies were fabulous, fun to photograph and very sweet. Thanks for "workin' it," girls! You were great! On the docket: weddings, portraits, weddings and more portraits! By the way, now's the time to book your senior session with me if you haven't already ...
Just Hitched! – {Marcus and Annie’s Double Arrow Lodge Wedding}
I can't believe it feels like only yesterday that I was photographing Marcus and Annie's engagement session this past autumn - and now, fast forward to June, these two lovebirds are hitched! Marcus and Annie tied the knot at the Double Arrow Lodge in Seeley Lake, Montana, amidst a large group of their friends and family. Annie planned her wedding down to the very last detail, and it showed exquisitely in how tailored their day was to their own tastes and favorite things. The entire bridal party was gifted with new cowboy boots for the occasion, and both Annie and Marcus wrote their own vows that they pledged to one another, voices ...
The Importance of Photography – {Some Personal Thoughts}
I'm sitting here writing this at 12:08 a.m. Mostly because I don't think I'll be able to fall asleep without getting these thoughts out of my head, and partly because I am just a night owl at heart. This evening I was washing my face, enjoying the warmth of the water on my skin, and I found myself looking up at my reflection in the mirror and being caught in thought. I thought about the things that had happened over the course of the past couple days. How much I'd accomplished in my list of to-do's. How thankful I am to have had time to spend with friends and people I care about. And then I thought about something one of my friends had ...
Raw Emotion – {Joelle’s Missoula Fashion Shoot}
This shoot was all about drama drama drama - in a good way. I knew going into this that I wanted it to feel dark, dramatic and raw, and that I'd be shooting for black and white. So we styled Joelle very casually, and got all dark and smudgy with her makeup to really add to the drama of the photos. This is pretty different from what I usually shoot - which is very happy, bright, and full of color. I wanted to go in the total opposite direction with these photographs and capture the vulnerability of someone who's feeling sadness, curled into themselves and just letting go. Because I couldn't go all sad and dark with every shot (I'm a super ...
Dancemania! – {Oula’s First Annual Missoula Dance Party}
Dancemania is probably an understatement because the ladies at Oula's first annual dance party at the Stensrud Building in Missoula seriously ROCKED their FEET off. I had such a blast photographing so many happy people shaking their groove thang (huge kudos to Kali Lindner who created Oula!), and I hope you'll investigate all the awesomeness that is Oula. (I swear, if I hadn't been photographing, I would have been a "dancemaniac" as well!) This fab party was put together by the lovely Kelsey Motes-Conners from Glacier Parks Weddings and Events, who did a seriously wonderful job. Accents of fuschia along with pink drinks really popped and ...
Loving the Light – {Joelle’s Missoula Fashion Model Session}
I love light. And I love that Joelle and I got to really play around with it during our latest Missoula fashion session. The weather couldn't have been better - a balmy 87 degrees (in April of all things!), a slight breeze, topped off with a drop-dead-gorgeous sunset. That's definitely the recipe for a sweet session. And, of course, Joelle was brilliant, too. :) P.S. If you've got a dress you want to rock like Joelle did, let me know! These types of sessions are a blast and a great way to show off that prom dress or wedding dress! And I'm sure Joelle can attest to that, too. A huge big shout out to the people who helped make this shoot ...
Spring Smiles – {Molly and Andy’s Missoula Engagement Session}
I met up with Molly and Andy a while back to do a super mini engagement session with them - it was short and sweet - just what they wanted - and their cat, Melvin, even got to share the spotlight. :) Can't wait for your wedding this summer, you two! On the docket: portraits! Cheers, -Kristine ...
My Little Blue Bird – {Flash the Parrotlet}
I don't often post personal stuff, but today I'm just feeling like it. Perhaps it was because Missoula hit a sunny 70 degrees and upped my Vitamin D? Perhaps I can't get over how stinking cute my little bird is? (Yes, yes, I know - I'm biased.) Perhaps I want to reveal "the man behind the curtain," as it were, and give you an idea of who I am? Who knows. But here it is. Some of you may know that I adore birds. Love them. Think they're incredible. This stems from the fact that I grew up with canaries, and with grandparents who loved birding, and taught my brother and I a lot about this favorite pastime of theirs. I also know that some ...
