It's always a treat to get to work with the Simons family, and while I don't normally photograph family reunions, I couldn't resist getting to work with them again and doing their Hamilton family reunion when Becka contacted me about photographing their get-together. They're such a great, fun group - many of whom I met at Becka and Stephan's wedding - and they made photographing this many people a cinch. We had a blast making images of all the different couples, made some super cute images of all the various cousins together, and managed to get everyone in one photo together, too - dogs included! In between it all we grabbed some candid ...
Kristan, Ben, Lincoln, Janet + Jessica :: University of Montana Summertime Family Photos
When Kristan got in touch with me this year to make University of Montana summertime family photos again of her, her husband Ben, their son Lincoln, Ben's mother Janet and Ben's sister Jessica I was beyond excited because we'd had such a blast last summer making images for them. And this year was no exception! Lincoln, now two, was as energetic as ever, ready to rocket all over campus, climb up and down stairs, balance on curbs, swing from his parents' arms, giggle with his grammie and auntie, and challenge me to mini races. The boundless joy in this little guy is pretty magical and absolutely contagious! He had us all laughing and my ...
Kelly + Dustin :: East Glacier Elopement in Glacier National Park
Fittingly, as I write this post, it's pouring rain and storming in Missoula. Montana has had a very wet summer, which Kelly, Dustin and I also experienced firsthand during their East Glacier elopement at Lake Josephine. (Though I can't say I'm complaining - this means we've also had little-to-no wildfires and their subsequent smoke to deal with, so I'm all for some soggy weather that's devoid of lightning strikes.) As soon as we met up at the trailhead the rain began, but they weren't going to let a few (or many) raindrops deter them. So we started out on our hike armed with rain jackets, umbrellas, bear spray and lots of smiles. Soon ...
Melisa + Zack :: Dutton Montana Farm Rock the Dress Portraits
It's no secret that I seriously have a soft spot in my heart for rock the dress sessions because these sessions tend to allow us to get a little more creative with what we can do outside of the wedding day. And when rock the dress sessions include horses, chickens, and dogs (not to mention an awesome bride and groom), then, oh yes, sign me up for the fun! Melisa and Zack's Dutton Montana farm rock the dress portraits were the absolute epitome of aforementioned fun, and I'm pretty certain I did not stop smiling for one second of our time as we made these images together. We met up again on their farm the day after their wedding, and just ...
Melisa + Zack :: Dutton Montana Farm Wedding
I was so excited to see Melisa and Zack again for their Dutton Montana farm wedding since we'd had such a great time making their engagement photos there just about a year prior. Melisa was beaming as she got ready for the day, and Zack was eager to see his bride for their first look. As they both caught a glimpse of each other for the first time, their happiness and grins were so sweet to witness. Not to be outdone, Gyspy (one of their dogs) decided to join in on the fun, too! It wasn't long before it was time for the ceremony to start. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, puffy clouds breaking up the uninterrupted blue, birds flitted ...
Katie, Mike + Ruth :: Missoula Spring Family Portraits
One of the best parts about being a photographer is the connections I get to make with people over the years. I've been working with Katie and Mike since 2011, believe it or not! We've had a blast making engagement photos, creating images during their wedding day, getting adventurous during their rock the dress session, documenting Katie's pregnancy with Ruthie, and now, capturing Missoula spring family portraits for the three of them! What a huge honor to get to do this for them! Ruthie, who is just a bundle of energy and excitement at 20-months, loved getting tickles from her parents, checking out the nearby wa-wa (a creek that we ...
Carrie + Dugan :: Fort Missoula Vow Celebration
Carrie and Dugan got married on a whim about two years ago at the courthouse, but they have always wanted to celebrate their vows and marriage with their closest friends and family, so their Fort Missoula vow celebration was a perfect way to bring everyone together to share in the joy and happiness of their marriage, and exchange their vows in front of their loved ones in a meaningful way. And their day couldn't have been more beautiful or more perfectly them! It was warm and sunny and everyone got to enjoy the surrounding mountains as a backdrop to Carrie and Dugan's vows. Before they exchanged their rings, the rings were passed around to ...
Kaitlin :: University of Montana Graduation Celebration Images
If there's one thing I'm a sucker for it's someone who will have just as much fun laughing as I do. Enter Kaitlin! She contacted me a while ago about photographing her for her University of Montana graduation celebration images to document this time in her life after having successfully completed her studies. And as soon as I met her (and her lovely mom) I knew we'd have a total blast making images together. Not only does she clearly exemplify the French phrase joie de vivre, she was gung ho to do anything I suggested and make the absolute most of the beautiful day we had been treated to on campus. As we wandered around the University, ...
Becka + Stephan :: Missoula Montana Springtime Maternity Photos
I just love getting to work with Becka and Stephan - we've made family portraits together, and I've documented their wedding and their rock the dress session - so when Becka contacted me to tell me that she was pregnant and wanted me to make some Missoula Montana springtime maternity photos to celebrate this happy occasion for their family, I was just SO excited! These two are always so much fun to photograph, and I feel so fortunate to be able to document so many amazing things in their lives. Thankfully the weather held out for us (though we did get sprinkled on a bit because, you know, that's just par for the course in Missoula in the ...
Christine, Pete + Bradyn :: Snowy Family Photos in Missoula Montana
I was so tickled to get a call from Christine asking me if I'd make some snowy family photos in Missoula Montana as a surprise gift for her mother-in-law's birthday. It's always such a treat to get to work with Christine and Pete (we've done engagement photos, wedding photos and Christmas photos together), and, as I suspected, it was a delight to get to meet Bradyn, too. It turns out, she's just a natural in front of the camera! They were all such troopers and braved a bit of a slushy day to make these images, but we just had a blast, and were treated to a beautiful almost-spring day. I'm not sure any of us stopped laughing and smiling ...
