It was such an honor to photograph Richard Hoover for Paralyzed Veterans of America. PVA hired me last December to do this shoot, and I can only say that I left Richard's home feeling so grateful to have met him, completely inspired by his stories, my heart full to the brim. Richard Hoover was a fighter pilot in Vietnam and had flown 148 missions. As you might expect, this time was no walk in the park. He told me of bullets whizzing past the engines and propellers of his jets, many long intense hours in the air, and bombs going off near their camps as they slept at night. Visiting the latrine was a gambling with your life. Just ...
Pampered Pets :: Elizabeth’s Missoula Pet Portraits
I'm a huge animal fan, so when Elizabeth contacted me about doing some Missoula pet portraits for her business, Equus and Paws, I was excited to work with her (and her pet friends!). Elizabeth offers dog grooming as well as pet sitting and dog walking in Missoula. She also has specialties in both canine and equine massage. During our session we wanted to demonstrate these things in our images (as well as a few fun portraits of Elizabeth and her horse, Spice) - so take a peek below to see for yourself how Elizabeth works. Thank you again, Elizabeth for such a great session! It was so fun to meet some of the dogs and horses you work with. ...
Brooke :: University of Montana Graduation Portraits
Brooke was so enthusiastic when she contacted me to make some University of Montana graduation portraits and headshots of her to use for her graduation invites and in the professional world. I knew we'd have a great time working together because of her awesome positive energy. And we even lucked out with gorgeous spring weather and lovely light (although I swear, that 70 degrees sure felt like summer to me!). Brooke's also got THE most sparkly blue eyes I've ever seen - no need to visit the Caribbean - just check out Brooke's eyes! We had such a nice time laughing and chatting about her plans for the future during our quick little session. ...
New Photography Website Design! :: Photo Website Officially Updated
I'm fully aware that my new photography website design is probably more exciting for me than it is for you, but I still wanted to share. Why? It's exactly because of you that I can refresh my look and brand - your beautiful moments are featured prominently on my new site as are (just a smattering) of your truly heartfelt and so-very-much-appreciated love notes. So thank you! (P.S. This, that you're reading right now, is my blog. The website is a separate entity.) This is a long time coming, and something I've been wanting to do for what feels like eons, but have just never had the time to tackle. I've busted my rear making this happen ...
Sweet Snowflakes :: Alyssa + Adam’s Missoula Montana Winter Wedding
What is it about softly falling snowflakes that just immediately creates magic? I'm not quite sure, but whatever it is, Alyssa and Adam certainly experienced that magic for their Missoula Montana winter wedding. We weren't even certain we'd see snow for their wedding day what with the way Missoula's winter has been behaving. But I think everyone's snow-filled thoughts must've influenced Mother Nature a bit, because we woke up to a dusting on the morning of their wedding day, and then experienced a whirl of flurries later in the afternoon - the perfect wedding day gift to these two who truly love the snow! (Even Alyssa's wedding dress was ...
Mountain Running :: {Lolo and Trapper’s Missoula Pet Portraits}
I have a huge soft spot for animals and love capturing them doing what they love, so when Pam contacted me to ask about making some portraits of her two dogs, Trapper and Lolo, I was more than a little excited. And we had SO much fun! Trapper and Lolo were thrilled to be out running in Missoula's snow and the sun, though I think they thought our walk was a little strange (why do you silly humans keep stopping to make clicking noises with that boxy contraption?), but they were so good and I think we all left with perma-grins plastered to our faces. We've also come to the conclusion that Trapper had better start working on L.L. Bean to get ...
Thank you for a Wonderful 2014! :: {Missoula Year in Photos}
2014 is quickly coming to a close (T-minus about 6 hours as I write this post), and what a wonderful year it was! Words really can't even begin to say how grateful I am to everyone I've gotten to know and work with over this past year, and those of you who've I've continued relationships with as well. You have all touched my heart, and have left me with so many happy memories as I've shared moments with you throughout the year. YOU are the reason I do what I do and why I love what I do, so thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! It wasn't an easy task to choose just a few of my favorite images from most of my ...
Montanniversary :: {Aaron and Sarah’s Missoula, Montana Anniversary Photos}
Last year, after enjoying my friend Ali's annual Montana visit, she and I couldn't help but chit chatting about how we needed to get her brother, Aaron, and his wife, Sarah, to visit the following year as well. This set into motion an idea that we'd surprise them with a Montana anniversary photo session to celebrate their first year of marriage. Fast forward one year and Ali and I were giddy to finally make this idea happen. After spending the most delightful day taking a quick hike to some hot springs, soaking in the placid pools, dashing into cold creeks to cool off, scarfing down huckleberries, and hitting up a backwoods saloon for ...
Kisses in the Rain :: {Christine and Pete’s Missoula Wedding at the Gibson Mansion}
A major storm loomed on Christine and Pete's Gibson Mansion Missoula wedding, and folks constantly checked the radar and glanced at the sky as the day progressed. But Christine and Pete are so laid back, and so happy, that it didn't faze them one bit. This didn't come as a surprise to me, since we had such a blast during their engagement session - these two are totally in love and I knew that's all that mattered to them. And the thing is - it rained - heck - it poured! But it was absolutely beautiful, truly unique and added to the many happy memories of their day. To start the day off, Christine readied herself in the mansion, smiling ...
Skipping Rocks and Sharing Smiles :: {Ashley, Adam and Iris’s Missoula Family Photos}
Autumn days are some of my favorites - oftentimes there's still lingering warmth from the summer, but something changes that sets it apart from those long warm days - the scent in the air shifts as the leaves turn color and fall to the ground, and the air feels a bit more crisp. Ashley, Adam, their daughter, Iris, and I all got together to make the most of this time of year and create some Missoula family photos of them just having a good time with one another, skipping rocks, giggling, running through the grass, dancing, and playing in the water. I love these types of sessions where everyone gets to just "be," and enjoy interacting with ...
