It's always so nice to photograph in locations that hold meaning to the people whose portraits I'm making, and it was especially fun for Zoe's Seeley Lake Montana senior photos since we got to photograph at her great grandparents' property in Seeley Lake. We started out our evening by making some sunny family portraits while everybody was together, and then off we dashed to the old barn to start Zoe's session. We had such a blast poking around that delightfully worn structure, balancing on fences, and Zoe even perched atop the ranch's old orange Chevrolet truck, too! (The color-lover in me was darn excited!) I loved that Zoe had so many ...
Azure :: Fall Senior Portraits in Missoula
It was a pretty chilly day for Azure's fall senior portraits in Missoula, but I'd say that braving the snow and rain (all while the sun was shining, mind you!) was completely worth having cold fingers and toes. We had a nice time wandering around in the woods, came across some cool old trees, and Azure's smile shined brightly alongside her deep blue eyes. I loved the warm, chocolate brown tones of her session, which seemed to make Azure's baby blues pop even more against that natural palette of our surroundings. Thanks again, Azure, for making the most of the cold and the wind! Here's to a great senior year and some warmer days for you ...
Mia :: Missoula Downtown Senior Pictures
Meeting up with Mia for her Missoula downtown senior pictures was so nice - and a reminder of just how quickly time flies! It only seems like yesterday that I was making photos of her for her cheerleading squad, which is now several years ago! We had a great time wandering around some of downtown's fun and funky little nooks and crannies, and as we did so she told me that she's really liking her classes, and is especially enjoying her drawing class. Mia also mentioned to me that she's thinking about pursuing a career in medicine, and at the moment is leaning strongly towards nursing since she really loves people. Mia's got a natural grace ...
Emilee :: Autumn Senior Pictures in Missoula Montana
Emilee and I initially attempted to make her senior pictures in August - however, we were thwarted by the massive amounts of forest fire smoke that decided to hang out in the Missoula valley. Fast forward a bit, and we decided to go for autumn senior pictures in Missoula Montana. And I'm so glad we did - even though it rained (kind of a lot), we stuck it out and it resulted in some seriously awesome, unique photos - can we say DOUBLE RAINBOW?? :) Ohhhhh yeahhhhh. Emilee was so wonderful to work with - she's got a beautiful smile and can rock a more serious look as well. She wasn't afraid to dance in the rain and humor me by having fun ...
Sean :: Senior Photos along the River in Lolo Montana
When I heard that Sean was interested in having me do his senior photos, I knew we'd have a great session. A couple years ago, his sister Katie and I had had such a wonderful time during her senior session, and I still recall just how fun it was to run through the fields and chase the light with her. :) Sean's session was just as fantastic. He picked our location in Lolo because he's spent quite a bit of time down by the river throwing sticks for his dog, Jake. Jake even got to come along for Sean's shoot, and made a few cameo appearances as well. We had such a fun time wandering the trails by the river, cracking up at Jake and his ...
Kaeleigh :: Missoula Montana Senior Pictures in the Forest
It was so nice to meet up with Kaeleigh and her most excellent personal assistants (thanks, Kaeleigh's family!) for her Missoula Montana senior pictures. We found some gorgeous filtered light streaming down through the forest trees, and had a great time laughing and meandering through the woods to make Kaeleigh's photos. This setting fit perfectly with a few of Kaeleigh's favorite interests, which are the environment and biology. But when Kaeleigh's not out enjoying the beauty of the natural world, she really likes to bake, and cookies are her absolute favorite thing to make. Kaeleigh - thanks again for a wonderful session and ...
Brilliant Autumn Days :: {Hugh’s Missoula Senior Pictures}
If you've been following my work or my blog for a while, you know that I adore color. Love it. Wholeheartedly. And when Hugh showed up for his autumn Missoula senior pictures looking seriously stylish and completely on par with all the gorgeous colors around, I got a little giddy. (I mean, his orange pants! Absolute perfection!) We had a great time walking around and making the most of all the awesome color we had to work with, and also chatted a bit too. Hugh really loves to snowboard, and has been doing so for a while. He also enjoys learning about history and thinks that after graduation he'd like to pursue either a career in welding or ...
Fun with Color :: {Alexandra’s Missoula Senior Pictures}
One of my favorite seasons is definitely autumn, so I was excited to hear that Alexandra really wanted some fall colors in her senior photos. And fall colors we received! Brilliant golds, oranges and reds really highlighted the pop of pink Alexandra was wearing and the red in her hair as well - perfection! We had such a nice time wandering and finding those color pops, enjoying the autumn scent and making some fun images that highlighted Alexandra's sparkling eyes and beautiful smile. Alexandra - thanks again for a fun session! Here's to an awesome senior year and a bright future for you! On the docket: weddings, portraits, ...
A Girl & Her Best Friends :: {Jessy’s Missoula Senior Portraits}
It was so great to meet up with Jessy the other evening for her senior photos - and I was excited because she told me that 1) she's a very musical person and wanted to incorporate that into her pictures. And 2) she loves animals, and was going to be bringing along her cat, Fancy, and her dog, Buddy. Music and animals are equally important to me, too, so I knew we'd have a good time making her photos. We had fun wandering downtown, and I've got to give it to her furry friends - they did great! I think Buddy may have thought we were on the strangest walk ever (i.e. "who is this lady with the crazy weird gadgets, and why does she get me all ...
Water-Wading and Sweet Smiles :: {Nicole’s Missoula Senior Pictures}
To say that Nicole, her mom and I had a blast during her senior session would be a complete and total understatement. Holy moly did we have fun! Nicole is a senior at Hellgate and is on the swim team there - so she was really hoping we could incorporate water into her shoot, which I'd say we did pretty successfully. I've got to hand out the kudos to her too, because that water was darn chilly! And yep, she and I definitely waded into it. Cold, but so worth it! When I asked her about what she might be interested in doing after she graduates from Hellgate, Nicole told me that she really loves working with kids and hopes to pursue this as ...
