It was so fun to photograph Rilee and Nick's colorful autumn engagement photos - not only because we timed our session perfectly and were treated to some absolutely brilliant yellows oranges and reds, but because these two are just a blast to work with! I'd photographed Nick's older brother Jamie's wedding a few years earlier, so when Rilee and Nick contacted me about doing their engagement and wedding photos I knew we'd click (no pun intended!). As was standard for this year, we had some rain clouds threatening in the background as well as a few raindrops to start out our session. But thankfully the impending storm skirted around us and ...
Kelsey + Sam :: Moon Randolph Homestead Wedding
We were all watching the weather forecast and the skies leading up to Kelsey and Sam's Moon Randolph Homestead wedding because a winter storm was brewing (in September of all things!), and no one quite knew what Mother Nature would surprise us with. Thankfully we managed to avoid the snow until later in the evening, but Kelsey and Sam's wedding has got to go down in history as one of the coldest weddings I've ever photographed in September! (If I recall correctly, I think the windchill had the temps feeling like the teens to low 20's! Brrr!) Despite the chill, Kelsey and Sam absolutely made the most of their day (and the lack of snow!), ...
Dana + Will :: Missoula Montana Mother and Son Session
I was so excited when Dana got in touch with me again about doing another Missoula Montana mother and son session with her 8-year-old boy, Will, because we'd had such a wonderful time together during our first session three years ago! Will's grown so much, and much like our first session, he's a boy who's curious and excited about life, loves the outdoors, adores his mother, and still retains a fascination with sticks and rocks and all the cool things we can find in the woods. It was so fun to see his imagination at play (at one point he created some "bike handlebars" from two sticks he he held together), and he had all sorts of ...
Laura + Melinda :: Holland Lake Lodge Wedding
As seems to be the theme of this year in Montana, it was a little bit of a rainy day for Laura and Melinda's Holland Lake Lodge wedding. However, Mother Nature played nicely with us and decided to treat us to some sun just as the ceremony was about to start, much to everyone's excitement! Despite a few rain showers here and there, it really couldn't have been a more gorgeous day for Laura and Melinda to celebrate their love for one another. Everyone in attendance sported giant smiles (and a few tears, too) as Laura and Melinda shared their vows, promises, laughter and love with one another, cloud-encircled mountains in the ...
Melissa, Sean + Emma :: Missoula Family and Baby Photos
I was just so gosh darn excited when Melissa contacted me to ask about making some photos of her, her husband, Sean, and their 2-month-old baby girl, Emma for their Missoula family and baby photos while they were in town visiting! We'd had such a great time together capturing their wedding day, so I knew the photos with their newest little addition would be such a treat! As was the theme this summer, we had to dodge some raindrops (and some thunder, which safely stayed far, far away from us), but everyone handled it beautifully. It turns out that Emma seemed to really love the Montana breeze on her adorable smiling cheeks and blowing ...
Sammy + James :: Missoula Montana Line Ranch Wedding
I was so looking forward to documenting Sammy and James's Missoula Montana Line Ranch wedding since we had had such a fantastic time during their engagement session - and their wedding was everything I expected it would be and more! The joy and fun that permeated their day was simply intoxicating in the best way possible. We started out their day by making images of Sammy getting ready at her parents' house. Once ready to go, Sammy and James had a private first look, and then it was time to start making portraits! We all jumped aboard the bus and made our way downtown to some of Sammy's favorite spots from her time growing up in ...
Kelsey + John :: Summertime Glacier National Park Elopement
Every time I go to Glacier it's always a little bit different, which is something that I just adore about zipping on up there. Kelsey and John live in Pennsylvania but worked in Glacier for 6 months in 2017 and had many fond memories of their time in the area. So they knew the perfect way to start their married life together would be to have a summertime Glacier National Park elopement. And perfection it was! John's sister, Mary, joined them as well as Kyle, John's longtime best friend, who was also their officiant. We had such a wonderful time checking out the park together, all of us piled into their rented Subaru, and started out at ...
Kelly + Dustin :: East Glacier Elopement in Glacier National Park
Fittingly, as I write this post, it's pouring rain and storming in Missoula. Montana has had a very wet summer, which Kelly, Dustin and I also experienced firsthand during their East Glacier elopement at Lake Josephine. (Though I can't say I'm complaining - this means we've also had little-to-no wildfires and their subsequent smoke to deal with, so I'm all for some soggy weather that's devoid of lightning strikes.) As soon as we met up at the trailhead the rain began, but they weren't going to let a few (or many) raindrops deter them. So we started out on our hike armed with rain jackets, umbrellas, bear spray and lots of smiles. Soon ...
Melisa + Zack :: Dutton Montana Farm Rock the Dress Portraits
It's no secret that I seriously have a soft spot in my heart for rock the dress sessions because these sessions tend to allow us to get a little more creative with what we can do outside of the wedding day. And when rock the dress sessions include horses, chickens, and dogs (not to mention an awesome bride and groom), then, oh yes, sign me up for the fun! Melisa and Zack's Dutton Montana farm rock the dress portraits were the absolute epitome of aforementioned fun, and I'm pretty certain I did not stop smiling for one second of our time as we made these images together. We met up again on their farm the day after their wedding, and just ...
Melisa + Zack :: Dutton Montana Farm Wedding
I was so excited to see Melisa and Zack again for their Dutton Montana farm wedding since we'd had such a great time making their engagement photos there just about a year prior. Melisa was beaming as she got ready for the day, and Zack was eager to see his bride for their first look. As they both caught a glimpse of each other for the first time, their happiness and grins were so sweet to witness. Not to be outdone, Gyspy (one of their dogs) decided to join in on the fun, too! It wasn't long before it was time for the ceremony to start. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, puffy clouds breaking up the uninterrupted blue, birds flitted ...
