What is better than a perfect Montana springtime evening, beautiful golden light and a couple who is just head-over-heels for one another? Not much at all. That I'm certain of. Christine, Pete and I had SO much fun during their engagement session, and even though it was HOT (82 degrees in May - what what?!), I don't think we noticed all that much. We were too busy smiling, laughing, giggling, traipsing through the tall green grass, climbing over logs - you name it. It was such a treat to see the love in their eyes for one another, and to hear how they sweetly talk about each other. (In Christine's words: "I love him so much - everybody ...
Three Generations of Love and Smiles :: {Cheyenne’s Graduation and Three Generation Celebration}
It is always such a treat to get to work with clients multiple times, so when Cheyenne contacted me asking me if we could meet up again, this time with her mother and grandmother, to make some portraits to celebrate her graduation from the University of Montana and also celebrate the fact that three generations of her family were together, I was excited and jumped at the chance! We managed to dodge the raindrops (for the most part - we got a bit soaked as soon as we finished our portraits - see the last image to view the clouds we were up against), and had such a great time. These ladies obviously have a blast together, and it was so much ...
Glorious Glacier :: {One of my Favorite Places on Earth}
I've been a bit quiet on the blog lately, I admit. But it's because I've been steadfastly prepping for the upcoming photography season (which is going to be awesome!), and I've also been taking time to better my business from behind the scenes, as well as better myself personally and spend time with friends and family before life gets all crazy again. This also means I've finally gotten around to editing some of my own personal images. So, I thought I'd share a few here. Last September I took some time to meet up with my brother and his girlfriend in Glacier National Park. They took the train from Portland into Whitefish, unpacked their ...
Loving the Lilacs – {Happy First Day of Spring, Missoula!}
I love spring. Every sweet ounce of it. There's just something so amazing and exhilarating about how the world transforms from browns and grays to color, color, color! (Have I mentioned just how much I love color?) Some of my favorite spring things (in no particular order): Fuzzy baby green leaves ::: warm sun ::: the smell of mud ::: birdsong ::: smiling faces ::: dark earth ::: buds! ::: blue skies ::: bicycling ::: grilling ::: transformation of the landscape ::: gardening ::: pussy willows ::: sweet little baby animals ::: getting muddy ::: t-shirt weather ::: the promise of summer.... I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at ...
Winter in the Mountains – {Kristeen & Colt’s Montana Portrait Session at Sky Ridge Ranch}
From the moment I talked to Kristeen on the phone (and we exclaimed over the fact that we're both "K" Kristines - woot woot! we're rare, I tell you!), I knew we'd just have a blast working together! So, when Kristeen called to tell me she and Colt were in Missoula, visiting from their home base in Hawaii, and that they had decided they wanted to take advantage of the snow we had here to do some fun portraits, I was completely game. We all carpooled together up to Sky Ridge Ranch (which is where they'll be getting married this summer - such a beautiful venue!), and decided to tromp around in the snow and make the most of the white-capped ...
Wintertime Rambles – {Megan and Jeremy’s Missoula “Engagement” + Family Session}
A few days after Christmas I had the pleasure of getting together with Megan and Jeremy and their family since they were all together in Missoula for the holidays. It was such a treat to see everyone again, and this time around I even got to meet Megan and Jeremy's dog, Grafton (who is the cutest, fuzziest dude ever!). The backstory about their "engagement" session is that I photographed Megan and Jeremy's wedding in 2012 (so pretty!), but we had to delay their engagement session until a later date since they live more than a hop and a skip away from Missoula. So, a little over a year later we had a great time making photos of these two - ...
Sunshine and Snow – {The Campbell & Bravard Families’ Missoula Portraits}
It was so nice to meet up with the Campbell and Bravard families a few days after Christmas - and we even lucked out with a sunny winter wonderland to traipse through as we made our photos. It was chilly, but oh so worth it! Chase and Cole were such good sports about dealing with the cold, and their smiles could've warmed anybody watching. Thank you again, guys! It was so nice to meet you all and a treat to help out with a wonderfully thoughtful Christmas gift as well! On the docket: portraits! Don't miss them! Cheers, -Kristine ...
Snowflakes Keep Falling – {Caden’s Class of 2014 Missoula Senior Pictures}
Caden and I met up on a FRIGID...and I'm talking FRIGID - maybe all of 7 degrees...winter day to make his Hamilton High School senior portraits. Even though it was so cold, it couldn't have been a more beautiful day. Snowflakes were falling all around us, and we managed to have a pretty darn good time even though we were slowly turning into icicles. Caden did a fantastic job despite the temps (and despite me inadvertently cracking him up during our "serious" shots). As we walked around, he told me that he really enjoys playing his guitar (and I got to hear a few notes too - they sounded great!), and especially likes fishing. When asked ...
Father and Sons – {The Sandberg Family’s Wintry Photo Session}
I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mike, Cole and Josiah the other day to photograph their family session that they won from the University of Montana's Easter Eggstravaganza this past spring. And, even though it was SOOOO cold, we had such a nice time tromping about through the fresh snow. The boys are huge fans of the Green Bay Packers (woo hoo Wisconsin shout out!), and they even showed off to me their best, fiercest game day faces. (I'm pretty sure I heard some Vikings' knees a-knockin' over yonder.) Thanks again, guys, for a fun session! And kudos to you again for braving the cold! I hope that hot chocolate was warm and tasty. ...
Blue Skies and Sunny Smiles – {The Jones Family’s Stevensville, Montana Portraits}
I simply adore being able to meet the newest additions to my couples' families. To have the opportunity to photograph their new family together is such a treat and such an honor, and I got to do just that with Kim, Randy and their 9-month-old daughter Reata. It's hard to believe that not too long ago we were making engagement photos and wedding photos. Crazy how time flies! It was a bit of a chilly afternoon for our shoot, but the sun was on our side and kept us warm as we ventured from spot to spot. And Reata - what a little cutie pie! She was great, and had a blast "driving" Randy's truck from location to location as well. There is so ...
