If there's one word to describe Sarah and Matt's wedding it is, without a doubt, the word happy. There was just so much joy, happiness, and love during their wedding that it nearly radiated! And even though we all had to duck in and out of bouts of rain, it didn't faze anyone. Also, I swear, it resulted in one of the most incredible sunsets I've seen at the resort. Just stunning. Mother Nature must've been paying attention to the wedding day timeline, because the rain dissipated in time for Sarah to walk down the aisle to her smiling groom. There was laughter, there were happy tears, and there was oh-so-much jubilant celebration as ...
Over the Moon in Love :: {Amanda and Raker’s Sky Ridge Ranch Montana Wedding}
I think an apt way to describe Amanda and Raker's Ronan Montana wedding day goes a little something like this: my cheeks literally hurt from smiling after I had finished photographing for them. And I'm betting I wasn't the only one feeling this way - which is quite decidedly a completely awesome way to feel. From the moment the day started to the moment things wound down, there was just so much happiness, joy, and laughter from everyone present. Montana, true to form, pulled out all the stops and showed off beautiful blue skies, butterflies!, perfect temps, warm sun, one heckuva sunset, and a moonrise over the mountaintops! I am still a ...
Golden Grasses and Stunning Smiles :: {Sonia and Derek’s Missoula Wedding at the Ranch Club}
Missoula in the summertime is truly a magical place, and it was no different for Sonia and Derek's Missoula wedding at the Ranch Club - blue skies, a smattering of wispy clouds, and lots of beautiful sunshine to kiss the landscape. A gentle breeze blew as Sonia and Derek shared readings, spoke their vows and exchanged rings in front of their family and friends. As the two kissed for the first time as husband and wife everyone cheered, their smiles wide and eyes bright. As folks finished their dinner, toasts started up and were filled with emotion, fond memories and punctuated with laughter and perhaps a few misty eyes. Sonia and ...
The Glacier Sublime :: Meagan and Brian’s Glacier National Park Elopement
When I hear the word "Glacier," I have to admit - my heart goes pitter patter. And when I hear the words "Glacier National Park elopement" I darn near about have a heart attack. That's how much I love it up there. So when Meagan and Brian contacted me about meeting up with them to photograph their wedding ceremony (with just them, their officiant and me), I was more than a little excited. They had never been to Glacier, but had always wanted to visit, and figured this was a great place to be married. And oh, it was. It was, it was, it was, a million times over. Montana pulled out all the stops for them and the weather was perfect, complete ...
Love on the Lake :: {Jen and Chris’s Flathead Lake Wedding}
Combine friends and family from Canada and Australia, add in a gorgeous Montana day on the lake, and you've got yourself a recipe for one beautiful, fun wedding. As the ceremony started, guests eagerly looked on as Jen and Chris gazed into one another's eyes and said their "I do's," so sweet and sincere and full of love. They kissed for the first time as newlyweds and walked down the lavender-strewn aisle, bubbles greeting them as they smiled at their loved ones. Jen and Chris wanted to make the most of being on Flathead Lake, so we all hopped into their limo and took it for a spin to some beautifully scenic spots to make some photos of ...
Bare Feet and Sunset Kisses :: {Sarah and Jordan’s Flying Horse Ranch Wedding}
Happy couples are my favorite, and Jordan and Sarah were no exception. It was a perfectly beautiful day for their wedding and part of what made it so beautiful was their visible happiness and easygoing nature throughout their wedding day. And even though there were tears too, they were happy tears. Tears of a father proud of and happy for his daughter. Tears of a bride moved by her husband's vows to her and her vows to him. Tears while listening to the most moving of toasts from siblings and friends. And, of course, lots and lots of laughter to accompany the events of the day as well. As their wedding day progressed, the brilliant blue ...
Love and Laughter :: {Abby and Jeff’s Missoula, Montana Wedding}
When you get to work with a couple whose engagement request includes being photographed with mini donkeys...you just KNOW their wedding day is going to be equally as awesome. And it totally was. Abby and Jeff had such a gorgeous wedding. The day couldn't have been more perfect - blue skies, fluffy clouds, sweet light, and heckuva lot of smiles, laughter and love. These two had some of the most hilarious and sweet wedding vows I've heard, which had everyone in stitches. And that was the theme of the day - pure happiness and joy, surrounded by friends and family (many of whom traveled all the way from Chile to join the festivities!) We ...
Raindrops and Sunsets :: {Ashley and Adam’s Sky Ridge Ranch Wedding}
It may have been a bit of a rainy day for Ashley and Adam's wedding, but I think it only added to the natural beauty of the setting and of their truly heartfelt ceremony. I'm pretty sure everybody felt more in touch with all that makes Montana wonderful as the mountains peeked out amidst the clouds, as the raindrops fell on our shoulders and as we all soaked in and appreciated the notion of place and the people with whom we share it. Adam stood before friends and family and watched as his daughter, Iris, in a sweet, layered dress, made her grand entrance in a little red wagon, and not long after, her mother, Ashley, followed walking ...
Married amongst the Mission Mountains :: {Mariah and Erryn’s Sky Ridge Ranch Montana Wedding}
When you plan your wedding in Montana, there's always a risk that mountain views might be obscured by wildfire smoke. Unbelievably, this year, we really haven't had to deal with smoke all that much from our own fires...but smoke doesn't obey state lines, and it drifted over from Canada, Washington and Oregon and planted itself right in front of the beautiful Mission Mountains - and on Mariah and Erryn's wedding day. It's a part of life here, so everyone took it in stride, but we all were secretly wishing and hoping it would dissipate, especially since Erryn's family came all the way from Chicago, and we all wanted them to see just how amazing ...
Running through the Woods :: {Kristeen and Colt’s Rock the Dress Session}
Oh, how I adore rock the dress sessions! They are just so much fun - relaxed, beautiful, playful, creative, and most importantly they take place outside of the wedding day timeline to allow more flexibility with image-making. Don't get me wrong, I love making photos during wedding days too, and Kristeen and Colt's day was certainly no exception, but there's something just so special about doing these types of portraits without time constraints, and simply allowing yourself to go with the flow of the day and just follow the light and let it do its thing. So that's what we did. It happened to be a very smoky day since wildfires in Canada, ...
