I'm always a little blown away by how quickly time flies when I'm having fun - one day I'm photographing Kristeen and Colt's engagement session in February at Sky Ridge Ranch and we've got snow up to our knees, and the next, I'm marveling at the gorgeous summer vistas the ranch provided Kristeen and Colt on their wedding day. It truly was an absolutely beautiful day for these two to be married. The skies were blue, the lemonade was refreshing, and the love was tangible. As Kristeen walked down the aisle with her father, Colt visibly became choked up as he saw his radiant bride smiling at him. There was so much emotion in their sweet ...
The Mountains are Calling :: Megan and Zach’s Montana Waterfall Wedding
It's not every day that I get asked if I'll photograph a Montana waterfall wedding. But holy moly, I wish it were! When Megan contacted me a while back and asked me if I'd be willing to hike up to the falls for an intimate wedding with just her, her fiancé Zach, and their families, I was absolutely stoked. I truly love this type of creativity, adventure, and pure Montana awesomeness, and I knew we'd all have so much fun together. Megan told me that she and Zach had been road tripping in Montana a few years ago (they are both from Ohio) and had stumbled across this hike to the waterfall. When it came time to get married, they both knew they ...
Radiant Amidst the Rolling Hills :: {Raina and Danny’s Missoula Wedding}
It seems like only a few days ago that Raina, Danny and I were admiring Missoula's beautiful autumn colors and traipsing around Missoula having fun making their engagement photos. Fast forward to July, and suddenly it's their wedding day! The sky was blue, the temps were hot, and the grass was green. Though Raina and Danny had their ceremony at the Ranch Club, we also dashed downtown for a bit to hit up some of Missoula's unique buildings, and we may have stopped at a local watering hole to cool off and refresh everyone's drink as well. :) Lots of laughter and lots of smiling were definitely themes throughout the day - and anyone who ...
Kisses under the Cottonwoods :: {Autumn and Kevin’s Great Falls, Montana Wedding}
Despite the weather forecast warning of rain, Mother Nature must've known she needed to match Autumn's and Kevin's bright, happy personalities and decided to wow everyone with a beautiful, sunny day in an absolutely picturesque setting at Autumn's grandparents' house in Great Falls. Everyone readied themselves amidst a chorus of laughter (and maybe a few happy tears too), and soon the two were ready to see each other for the first time. Kevin was filled with emotion - happy, happy tears! - as he saw his bride-to-be walking towards him. Guests filtered in, hugging and greeting one another, and soon the ceremony started as the wedding ...
A Love as Bright and Beautiful as the Big Sky :: {Stephanie and Danny’s Flying Horse Ranch Wedding}
Sometimes Montana weather in June can make us all look up at the sky in bewilderment - it was supposed to be a rainy day for Stephanie and Danny's wedding, but lo and behold, it was drop-dead gorgeous and Mother Nature even decided to go all out and match their wedding colors with bright blue skies and lush green grass. As the girls and guys readied themselves for the ceremony, there was a lot of laughter and giggling, which is always a great way to start the day in my book. The ladies laughed as Stephanie steadied herself as her maids laced up her dress, and the guys guffawed at their slick-soled shoes, and may have attempted some Michael ...
Love in the Sunshine :: {Micah and Dave’s Helena Lakeside Ranch Wedding}
If I had to pick just one word to describe Micah and Dave's wedding at the Lakeside Ranch in Helena it would be : HAPPY. That was the overwhelmingly wonderful feeling I had their entire wedding day. Everyone was simply happy, smiling and thoroughly enjoying themselves. From joking around and laughing while getting ready, to their sweet smiles during their wedding vows, to the energetic dancing and everything in between...light and love and pure happiness just radiated. Guests had a great time mingling with one another, playing lawn games, and popping into the "polaroid" booth to make faces for friends. Dave and Micah stole kisses here and ...
Ponies, Donkeys and Dogs, Oh My! :: {Abby and Jeff’s Lolo, Montana Ranch Engagement Session}
When Abby and Jeff, both animal-lovers, asked if they could have their engagement photos done with llamas, horses or cows - I admittedly got a little giddy. My response to that question will always be a resounding, "Heck YES!" We found ourselves some willing participants at a ranch in Lolo (they were: ponies Captain Lewis and Captain Clark, Charger the horse, Maude and Gertie the mini mules, and Vincent the dog), and luckily the weather held out for us while Abby and Jeff were in town visiting from Chicago. We had SO much fun. SO much. There was laughter, donkey braying, funny dog faces, kissing ponies, gorgeous light - you name it. And a ...
Love in the Springtime :: {Christine and Pete’s Missoula Engagement Session}
What is better than a perfect Montana springtime evening, beautiful golden light and a couple who is just head-over-heels for one another? Not much at all. That I'm certain of. Christine, Pete and I had SO much fun during their engagement session, and even though it was HOT (82 degrees in May - what what?!), I don't think we noticed all that much. We were too busy smiling, laughing, giggling, traipsing through the tall green grass, climbing over logs - you name it. It was such a treat to see the love in their eyes for one another, and to hear how they sweetly talk about each other. (In Christine's words: "I love him so much - everybody ...
Glorious Glacier :: {One of my Favorite Places on Earth}
I've been a bit quiet on the blog lately, I admit. But it's because I've been steadfastly prepping for the upcoming photography season (which is going to be awesome!), and I've also been taking time to better my business from behind the scenes, as well as better myself personally and spend time with friends and family before life gets all crazy again. This also means I've finally gotten around to editing some of my own personal images. So, I thought I'd share a few here. Last September I took some time to meet up with my brother and his girlfriend in Glacier National Park. They took the train from Portland into Whitefish, unpacked their ...
Golden Emotion and Happy Hearts – {Joe and Hannah’s Missoula Wedding}
I had the pleasure of photographing Joe and Hannah's winter wedding a bit ago, which took place on their engagement-anniversary in February. It was wintry outside, but warm and inviting inside the Florence building's ballroom - the lights glowed as did everyone's faces as Hannah walked down the aisle, beaming at her groom. The two laughed and smiled as they exchanged vows, and walked back down the aisle as husband and wife to the Star Wars theme - so great! We had fun playing around with portraits and definitely took advantage of the old phone booths on the main level. Soon it was time for some really sweet toasts, the cutting of the ...
