Laura and Tyson's wedding - I'm not sure they could have had a prettier day or evening in which to celebrate their love for one another. The day started out with a prediction for thunderstorms, but none came. The sky was blue, the sun was bright, and when it finally came time to call it a day, the sun sank behind the mountaintops in a glow so deliciously brilliant, I swear, I could have eaten it right up. The theme for the day with Laura and Tyson seemed to be laughter - and LOTS of it - one of my favorite things at weddings. From their moments getting ready, to their sweet mountaintop ceremony, to dancing and karaoke in the ...
Playing in the Rain, and Fun in the Sun – {Kali’s Missoula Senior Session}
Kali and I had quite the adventure during her senior photo session - we seemed to keep hitting rainy days, which was kind of exactly the opposite of what Kali was envisioning for her photos - which was sunny and bright. However, for part of her session she wanted to shoot in more of an urban setting and figured rainy day shooting downtown wouldn't be so bad - and it wasn't at all! After having to reschedule a couple of times due to the sheets and sheets of rain hitting Missoula, she just decided to go for it, and go for it we did! We both got soaked during our rainy day shoot, but had a good time, even if we were a bit chilly after. So, we ...
A River Runs Through it – {Julie and Dave’s Stillwater River Outpost Wedding}
Julie and Dave, both big fans of fly fishing, chose the Stillwater River Outpost in Absarokee as their ideal place to tie the knot. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but it's got personal significance to them as well since they have spent quite a bit of time there enjoying all the river and the location have to offer. True to form, Montana decided to wow everyone with some pretty epic rainstorms, but then pulled out all the stops right as wedding day activities started getting underway, and showed off blue skies, fluffy clouds and brilliant sunlight to highlight Julie and Dave's beautiful riverside wedding. Their dog Quill walked down ...
Love Beneath a Rainbow – {Hannah and Joe’s Missoula Engagement Session}
The weather here in Montana has been a little on the can't-make-up-its-mind side of things lately...but that is one of the many things that I love about this state. Wait 15 minutes and you've got yourself a whole different feel to the day. Hannah, Joe and I were all kind of crossing our fingers that the date we had picked for the engagement session would be sunny and gorgeous, but alas. Gray skies loomed overhead. However, we decided to go for it anyway. And can I say just how flipping glad I am that we did that? Not only did we get the benefit of the super saturated colors overcast days provide, but we happened to stumble upon a giant, ...
Urban Style – {Alexis, Maddy and Krista’s Missoula Model Session}
It was one of those evenings that photographers (or at least I) really love - warm and sunny with delicious evening light. So Maddy, Alexis, Krista and I all took advantage of it and had fun making some smoldering images for their RMEA portfolios. Thanks again, ladies - you were great! Keep it up! :) On the docket: portraits and weddings! Stay tuned! Cheers! -Kristine ...
Sunflowers and Smiles – {Megin and Seth’s Stevensville, Montana Wedding}
Talk about a perfect Montana day for Megin and Seth's wedding! Everyone was treated to a bluebird day, the sun shined brilliantly over the mountaintops in the Bitterroot, and didn't sink behind them again until late in the long June evening. Megin readied herself in the upstairs of the main house, taking deep breaths to calm her nerves, and pausing here and there to peek out the window as guests arrived. Family and friends rested on hay bales as they waited for the grand entrance of the bridal party, and were treated to an adorable petal-scattering by the two flower girls. Megin made the long walk to the aisle on the arm of her father, ...
Of Mountains and Memories – {Ellen and Jeff’s Missoula Wedding at the Keep}
It couldn't have been a more perfect day for Ellen and Jeff's wedding day celebration - after days and days of rain, the sun decided to grace us with its presence and showcase Missoula in all its sunny splendor. Smiles, laughter and hugs abounded as everyone readied themselves for the big day. Ellen and Jeff's first look was incredibly sweet and full of emotion, and their ceremony treated everyone to some "scene stealers" by their dog, McKinley, and their adorable daughter, Audrey, as they walked down the aisle. Laughter, tears and many, many smiles were highlights, and afterwards guests were treated to delicious appetizers as well as a ...
A Sunny Celebration – {Starr and Ian’s Missoula Wedding}
When Starr called me up to ask me about photographing her intimate wedding Memorial Day weekend, I just knew I'd have a blast working with her and her fiancé (now husband!) Ian. She has such a positive, happy energy and it just radiated on her wedding day. She said her vows in the twinkling lights of the Missoula Children's Theater and then she, Ian and I took a walk through the woods to make some fun portraits outdoors after the ceremony. It couldn't have been a more perfect day for these images - sunny and gorgeous! As we were heading back to our respective vehicles, Starr proposed the idea of an impromptu rock the dress session. And who ...
The Smallest Things – {Missoula Springtime Flowers}
I was messing around in my garden this morning, giving myself a bit of flower time on the Friday before wedding season starts up again in full swing, and I came across this tiny treasure. And by tiny, I'm talking TINY tiny. As in maybe a quarter of an inch. I'm so thankful I didn't crush this little beauty, and immediately ran smiling to get my camera. So here you go - happy Friday! And here's an image to give you an idea of just how teensy this little guy was. :) On the docket: weddings and portraits! Stay tuned! Cheers, -Kristine ...
Breathing Deeply and Smelling the Lilacs – {Spring in Missoula}
Spring is one of my absolute favorite times of the year (although I admit I think I say that about every season). There's something just so exhilarating about watching new leaves form, seeing colors pop, enjoying softly falling rain and the intoxicating scents that emerge from the earth and fragrant flowers. I love it all. The past couple months have been exceptionally busy for me, moreso than usual, mainly because I moved into a new house (my first time as a homeowner - so exciting!), I've been finishing up my semester teaching as an adjunct professor at the School of Journalism at the University of Montana, and somewhere in between I'm ...
