I met up with Chris and Kelcy a day after their gorgeous Missoula wedding for their super fun trash the dress/rock the dress session. It was roasting hot, but we all had a blast making some really fun images of the two of them doing something they mutually dig - jeeping! I hadn't ever been in a jeep before (I know, I know...I'm a woman of small, deceptively tough cars) and I've got to say, it was definitely a good time! We also made some stunning non-jeeping images of the two of them, and Chris definitely won the award for best veil assistant ever. With a veil as long as Kelcy's, it liked to grab onto twigs and such, and Chris was always ...
Naturally Beautiful – {Jeff and Lauren’s Creative Montana Bridal Session}
We are so darn lucky to live in Montana. I mean, just look at what our eyes get to feast upon on a daily basis! Lauren and Jeff took advantage of the exceptional natural beauty of the Two Feathers Ranch where they were married and met up with me a couple days after their wedding to have fun rocking their creative bridal session. It really couldn't have been a more gorgeous evening - we caught the tail end of a summer storm, so we had some beautiful clouds in the sky and golden light towards the end of our evening. We got to hang out with their horses as well, who were exceptionally curious about my cameras. (See outtakes towards the bottom ...
The Best Things in Life Come in Threes – {Darby, MT Family Portrait Session}
And this is certainly true for the Butler family who have two-year-old triplet boys to keep them on their toes. I swung over to Darby a few days after Lauren and Jeff's Two Feathers ranch wedding to meet up with them for their family session with their little guys. The triplets had a blast showing me the finer points of cowboy hat-throwing, hay tossing, rock-skipping, tree-"climbing," and grass-wading (since the tall grass is much, MUCH taller than these adorable little guys!). Thank you so much for having me photograph your handsome family! On to the photos of these little charmers. On the docket: a stunning bridal ...
A Ranch Full of Love – {Lauren and Jeff’s Darby, MT Wedding}
The skies were blue, the sun warmly kissed the rolling hills of the Two Feathers Ranch in Darby, MT, and smiles graced everyone's faces as Lauren and Jeff promised their love and devotion to one another. It really was a magical day - Lauren and Jeff enjoyed a sweet "first look" before their ceremony, then bid each other adieu until Lauren made her grand entrance by horse drawn carriage. The ranch's other horses even decided to add their own element of beauty and surprise by galloping alongside Lauren's carriage as she drew closer to the ceremony location. Cheering greeted Lauren and Jeff's first kiss as newlyweds, and guests merrily rode ...
In Love with the West, In Love with Each Other – {George and Emily’s Ranch Engagement Session}
It's been a bit rainy in Montana as you may have noticed. (What is that glowing orb in the sky?) But the sun finally came out, the clouds parted and gave way to a beautiful blue sky and gorgeously sunny evening for George and Emily's engagement session in Ovando, MT, at the Montana Mountain View ranch that George and Emily adore. Their dog Billy joined us for the shoot (and kept us cracking up by barking into gopher holes!), and George and Emily's two horses Linus and Deuce were happy to accompany us into a field of wildflowers (which they gladly ate). It really couldn't have been a better evening - we all had a blast - and we finished ...
Their Love is Here to Stay – {Gabby and Ashley’s Double Arrow Lodge Wedding}
Though it was a bit of a rainy day for Gabby and Ashley's wedding at the Double Arrow Lodge in Seeley Lake, Montana, the droplets didn't dampen their spirits one bit - and heck - it even gave us all a beautiful rainbow later on. Gabby and Ashley's vows to each other were simply lovely and heartfelt, and their family and friends erupted in cheers as the brides walked down the aisle after their first kiss as newlyweds. Thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding day! I had such a wonderful time (you two rock, and you've got awesome family and friends). I cannot emphasize enough my congratulations to you both! Here's to a long life ...
Nature’s Paint Palette – {Wordless Wednesday}
I love color unabashedly. If you follow my work, it's probably fairly obvious how much I love color. I love it even more so when it grows wild and oh-so-incredibly-beautifully. Seriously - it's amazing what our world gives us to feast our eyes upon. So, today's Wordless Wednesday comes from a recent mountaintop stroll of mine: {Nature's Paint Palette - A Study in Wildflowers} On the docket: weddings and engagement sessions! Yippee! Cheers! -Kristine ...
Everybody Needs A Little Sun – {Wordless Wednesday}
The other day I was out on a session with a client and she spotted this little guy sunbathing. Who says humans are the only ones who sunbathe? :) {Sunbathing Squirrel} Cheers! -Kristine ...
Springing into their Future Together – {Daisy and Erik’s Missoula Wedding}
Daisy and Erik couldn't have had better springtime weather for their simple and sweet outdoor wedding at Fort Missoula and their lively reception at both the Loft and Stensrud building in Missoula. Clouds threatened rain, but it held off, giving Daisy and Erik two perfect days to spend with family and friends. (And lots and lots of cake - I like the way they think!) Cribbage made its way into their vows (remember their engagement session?), as did laughter and a few tears. But mostly there were smiles and excitement and of course, lots and lots of love. Thanks so much, you two! You are going to have a beautiful life together - I wish ...
Green Investment Group Acquires Old Smurfit-Stone Site – {Missoula Editorial & Commercial Photography}
Getting back to my photojournalism roots a bit, last week I was hired by Cork Tree Creative to photograph a press conference with Governor Brian Schweitzer and Ray Stillwell at the old Smurfit-Stone mill site to announce Green Investment Group, Inc.'s (GIGI) acquisition of the site. This is the seventh Smurfit-Stone paper mill acquired since 2006 by GIGI, an Alton, Illinois-based company that acquires and redevelops Brownfield sites throughout North America. (A Brownfield site is an abandoned or underutilized industrial or commercial site that is well-positioned for redevelopment.) Plans for the future use of the Missoula site are ...
