If 19-month-old Lincoln ever wanted to bottle up his energy and sell it, he'd be rich! During Kristan, Ben, Lincoln, and Janet's University of Montana Family photos he definitely kept us all on our toes and laughing our heads off! It was so much fun getting to meet everyone, and their visit to Missoula was a special one since they all have Montana connections. This was Lincoln's first visit to Montana, his dad, Ben, was born here, and Janet also grew up in Missoula and attended the University of Montana for a degree in music. And, Ben and Kristan were engaged in Glacier in 2012 - so there was lots of Montana love to go around! As we ...
Tim, Courtney, Teddy, Violet, Bill and Lorie :: Summertime Family Photos at Flathead Lake
Tim, Courtney, Teddy, Violet, Bill and Lorie's family session last year was an absolute blast, so I was beyond excited to hear from Courtney again this summer to set up some more summertime family photos at Flathead Lake while everyone was together again at Bill and Lorie's lake house. Flathead Lake put on a stunning show that evening, and Teddy, almost 5, was super stoked to show me all the tricks he'd been saving up since our session last summer. Violet, almost 2, motored around everywhere, tiny little pockets full of rocks to throw in the lake at a moment's notice, and was always interested in what her big brother was up to. Teddy ...
Becka + Stephan + Friends :: Missoula Montana Summertime Rock the Dress Photos
Every time I get to work with Becka and Stephan (I've done their family photos and their wedding!), it's a total blast, so it was no surprise at all to me that we had such a fun time during their Missoula Montana summertime rock the dress photos. AND they brought two of their good friends, Jes and Kara, and their pup, Daisy, too. It was a *much* warmer day than their snowy wedding day back in November, and Becka joked that this time around she didn't have to wear leggings under her dress! And what a gorgeous day it was! We couldn't have been treated to more beautiful light or scenery for their session. And everybody was full of laughs and ...
Kristina :: Missoula Montana Trail Running
Kristina and I first met at Snowbowl where we both were part of the same women's ski group. Our group was totally rad, and we quickly became friends with one another as we spent time chatting on the lifts and laughing over après ski beers at the Last Run Inn. So I was tickled when she asked me to make some images of her doing her thing, which is Missoula Montana trail running. And boy howdy, does she do this well! I'm always so very impressed by people who run (I'd love to be one of them myself - maybe one day!). But I'm in total and complete admiration and awe of people who not only run, but run mountains! Kristina's so good at what she ...
Christy, Scott, Ian + Keygan :: Glacier National Park Family Portraits
There were so many favorite moments from Christy, Scott, Ian and Keygan's Glacier National Park family portraits, but I think my most favorite thing is that they chose to document their entire family together on their vacation to Glacier from Texas. When Christy initially contacted me about making these photos for them, she told me that she'd done this before on another trip of theirs together and loved the results, so decided it was worth doing again! And what a great idea! Clearly I'm a little biased here, but I can't say enough about how important it is to document your family together - and if you're the one behind the camera most of ...
Sammy + James :: Missoula Montana Springtime Engagement Session
A few weeks ago, Sammy and James got to zip on over this direction from Manhattan (the New York kind) for their Missoula Montana springtime engagement session, and I'm so glad Montana decided to play nicely and treat them to a beautiful evening in town since we had a pretty rainy springtime this year. Sammy is originally from Missoula, and she and James currently live in NYC. When I asked them how they met, they both happened to be at a mutual friend's birthday party, and the rest is history. James proposed to her on the Tower Bridge in London, and, as it turns out, it seems that bridges are kind of a theme for them. We started out their ...
Margaret, Grant + Teddy the St. Bernard :: Seeley Lake Montana Family Portraits
I had the pleasure of photographing Margaret and Grant's wedding last summer, so I knew we'd have a blast again this spring making their Seeley Lake Montana family portraits, this time with their puppy, Teddy the St. Bernard in tow! (Though he's already a very big boy!) I met up with them at their family cabin on a (chilly!) spring day in June, and, as it happens in Montana, we got a little bit of everything as far as weather goes - but the best thing is that Margaret, Grant and Teddy were totally open to making it work and going with the flow. We began our session in the woods outside their cabin, and were serenaded by some chatty ...
Caroline + Friends :: Girls Weekend at The Resort at Paws Up in Montana
One of my favorite parts of photographing portrait sessions is when the idea behind it is unique - and Caroline's girls weekend at The Resort at Paws Up in Montana was definitely that! She and a group of her best friends from all over the country (all businesswomen and mothers) decided to meet up in Montana at Paws Up to celebrate Caroline's birthday and treat themselves - which I think is such a fantastic thing to do! Luckily, the weather cleared up for us and big sky country definitely put on a show for these ladies. We were treated to fantastic views, dramatic skies and wildflowers in abundance! As we were zipping around the resort, we ...
Melisa + Zack :: Dutton Montana Farm Engagement
So, you know how you talk with someone and you just click? I totally felt that way when chatting with Melisa initially about her wedding day. We both love words. We both love birds. (Words and birds! See what I did there?!) And her goal was to get married on her wheat farm to the love of her life, surrounded by her family and all of their farm critters (horses and dogs and chickens and turkey included!). Hooo boy, yes please! Therefore it was no surprise at all that when I zipped up north for Melisa and Zack's Dutton Montana farm engagement, that it was just such a wonderful time. Dutton treated us to a beautiful sunny, windy day just ...
Breanna + Branden :: Corvallis Montana Engagement Photos in the Bitteroot Valley
You know when the stars align, the weather is perfection, springtime in Montana is just exploding, and you get to work with the sweetest of people? Yeah, that's what Breanna and Branden's Corvallis Montana engagement photos in the Bitterroot Valley were like. We lucked into a day that showed off the Bitterroots to their fullest potential, and had an absolute blast together making their images. When we were talking about their session, Breanna and Branden told me that they really would love to be able to make their images down in the Bitterroot, since when they were first dating, they'd spend many days driving and exploring around the area ...
