I’m always stoked to get to work with people who love color and texture as much as I do, and Logan is definitely one of them! For her urban senior photos in Missoula Montana we especially had a great time seeking out various shades of blue since blue is Logan’s favorite color. (Check out her rad blue converse!)

Logan even brought her dog, Pond (named after Doctor Who’s Amelia Pond), and she had a great time too, and was especially interested in the ducks we encountered as we traipsed about town.

It was so much fun making these images for Logan – I love how she’s confidently got her own style going on, and her easy, genuine smile is the cherry on top! We had a blast laughing together, and finding great little pockets of good light and fun colors.

As we wandered from spot to spot, Logan told me a bit more about herself. She’s a senior at Sentinel High School, and has been in Missoula about a year. She moved here from Olympia, and especially enjoyed that urban vibe while she was there, so she wanted to capture that in her senior photos in Missoula, too.

Logan also loves reading and is into the fantasy genre but likes many different styles. She’s also got some awesome goals she’d like to pursue after she graduates from high school. She told me that she had initially been interested in psychology but really found neurology to be fascinating since there’s still so much to be learned about the brain. She’s planning on attending Montana State University for her undergraduate degree and then would like to head to the University of Washington for medical school. How awesome!

Logan – it was such a pleasure to make these photos for you, and I can tell you’re going to do some awesome things post-high school! Here’s to you and your dreams and goals! And congrats again on entering your senior year!

I was a little nervous Jake and I were going to get stormed on for his Corvallis Montana senior photos – as I was driving in, the clouds hung low and dark in the sky and I saw a few lightning bolts crackle through the air. But somehow we lucked out and the storm clouds stayed away, and even treated us to some pretty dramatic scenes and absolutely lovely light right in Jake’s own back yard.

Jake’s originally from Seattle, but absolutely loves and prefers Montana and has been here for about 3 years now. He also adores his dogs, and we got to photograph Shiloh, his 7-year-old German short hair pointer, and Ranger, his 8-month-old puppy, also a shorthair – but Scout, his Australian cattle dog, opted to stay inside as she was not a huge fan of my big scary cameras (even when I was holding treats for her – oh Scout!).

When Jake’s not hanging out with his dogs, he’s spending time making music. He has played guitar since he was 7 (and played for me as we were making his photos – he’s got talent!), and he’s got dreams of pursuing a business major at Montana State University, with the end goal of possibly opening his own recording studio.

Jake, I had such a nice time meeting you and your dogs! It was great to hear all about your goals, and to get to listen to the bits and pieces you played on your guitar. Here’s to a wonderful remainder of your senior year, and a future full of music! :)

When I heard that Sean was interested in having me do his senior photos, I knew we’d have a great session. A couple years ago, his sister Katie and I had had such a wonderful time during her senior session, and I still recall just how fun it was to run through the fields and chase the light with her. :)

Sean’s session was just as fantastic. He picked our location in Lolo because he’s spent quite a bit of time down by the river throwing sticks for his dog, Jake. Jake even got to come along for Sean’s shoot, and made a few cameo appearances as well.

We had such a fun time wandering the trails by the river, cracking up at Jake and his antics, and exclaiming over the absolutely beautiful day to which we were treated. Sean told me that he’s likely going to head to college at Montana State University after he graduates, and is interested in pursuing film and videography (I’m a little biased, but that sounds awesome!).

Sean! Thank you again for such a wonderful session – it was such a treat to get to meet you and Jake, get to see your mom again, and have the opportunity to visit some of your favorite places along the river. Here’s to a fabulous senior year and a great start to your college career as well!
