I don't often post personal stuff, but today I'm just feeling like it. Perhaps it was because Missoula hit a sunny 70 degrees and upped my Vitamin D? Perhaps I can't get over how stinking cute my little bird is? (Yes, yes, I know - I'm biased.) Perhaps I want to reveal "the man behind the curtain," as it were, and give you an idea of who I am? Who knows. But here it is. Some of you may know that I adore birds. Love them. Think they're incredible. This stems from the fact that I grew up with canaries, and with grandparents who loved birding, and taught my brother and I a lot about this favorite pastime of theirs. I also know that some ...
Fashion Forward – {Joelle’s Missoula Fashion Model Session}
So I love color. Especially bright colors. LOVE LOVE LOVE them. And I admittedly get beyond excited when I have the opportunity to have fun playing around with it. For Joelle's model shoot we styled her wardrobe to contain little pops of color and interest - from fire engine red skinny jeans, to bright bags, to a super fun animal print coat and a red and purple clutch. The light also happened to be deliciously awesome during our shoot (after a few weeks of reschedules due to rain, rain, rain), and I had fun working with it - both on its softer side, and more on its harsh, shadowy side. I love getting to exercise my creative photo muscles, ...
Smiling in the Spring Sun – {Maggie and Tyler’s Missoula Engagement Session}
Maggie and Tyler - I swear - their smiles could rival the brightness of the sun! We had such a fun time during their Missoula engagement session, and even managed to luck out with the weather, getting a bit of sun for our little walkabout. (I think they brought it with them from California!) These two are so clearly meant to be with one another. They're a lot like puzzle pieces - fitting together perfectly, but unique in their own right, too. Maggie and Tyler, I'm so glad you were able to make it back to Montana for our session - thank you so much for all the smiles and laughter! I'm not sure summer can get here soon enough since I know ...
Tiny Fingers and Tiny Toes – {Mirai’s Newborn Session}
There is just something so sweet about newborn babies. Their little noises, their teensy-ness, their fuzzy dandelion hair...I could go on and on. And Mirai is definitely the epitome of a bundle of cute! Just shy of a month old (she's a 2012 leapling baby, born on Leap Day), she was content to cuddle with her mom and dad, getting little kisses every so often by the household Labradors. Mirai was pretty curious about everything going on around her, and gazed at us with her newly-focusing eyes - she was such a good little baby for her newborn photographs! Thank you, Rachael, Mike and Mirai for a lovely session - your brand new baby girl is ...
Moon over Montana – {Friday Fun Photo}
I hope you all got a chance to step outside last evening and witness the gigantic moon hanging low over the hilltops and reflecting into the Clark Fork - seriously beautiful. I was hoping to see some northern lights, which didn't happen, but my...the moon sure was a good substitute. This photo isn't from last night, but I was reminded that I still had it hanging out, waiting to be shared, and today seemed like a good day for that. Enjoy! This was taken this past June after George and Emily's super fun engagement session. This image is way more gigantic than I'd normally post, but I figured the moon kind of merits that treatment. On the ...
Getting Art Into Missoula Schools – {Paxson Art Project}
This past spring I had the wonderful opportunity to help produce a documentary about the Paxson Art Project taking place in Paxson Elementary School in Missoula, a program that was developed by the Zootown Arts Community Center (ZACC). Visiting artists came into the school and taught kids from kindergarten through fifth grade new art concepts. Currently these kids only receive 6 hours of art per year. Yes, you heard that right - per YEAR. I stopped by these visiting artists' classes and put together an informative video about the project which will be shown to folks around the area to hopefully help educate them about the need for art for ...
In Love with the West, In Love with Each Other – {George and Emily’s Ranch Engagement Session}
It's been a bit rainy in Montana as you may have noticed. (What is that glowing orb in the sky?) But the sun finally came out, the clouds parted and gave way to a beautiful blue sky and gorgeously sunny evening for George and Emily's engagement session in Ovando, MT, at the Montana Mountain View ranch that George and Emily adore. Their dog Billy joined us for the shoot (and kept us cracking up by barking into gopher holes!), and George and Emily's two horses Linus and Deuce were happy to accompany us into a field of wildflowers (which they gladly ate). It really couldn't have been a better evening - we all had a blast - and we finished ...
Their Love is Here to Stay – {Gabby and Ashley’s Double Arrow Lodge Wedding}
Though it was a bit of a rainy day for Gabby and Ashley's wedding at the Double Arrow Lodge in Seeley Lake, Montana, the droplets didn't dampen their spirits one bit - and heck - it even gave us all a beautiful rainbow later on. Gabby and Ashley's vows to each other were simply lovely and heartfelt, and their family and friends erupted in cheers as the brides walked down the aisle after their first kiss as newlyweds. Thank you for allowing me to capture your wedding day! I had such a wonderful time (you two rock, and you've got awesome family and friends). I cannot emphasize enough my congratulations to you both! Here's to a long life ...
Nature’s Paint Palette – {Wordless Wednesday}
I love color unabashedly. If you follow my work, it's probably fairly obvious how much I love color. I love it even more so when it grows wild and oh-so-incredibly-beautifully. Seriously - it's amazing what our world gives us to feast our eyes upon. So, today's Wordless Wednesday comes from a recent mountaintop stroll of mine: {Nature's Paint Palette - A Study in Wildflowers} On the docket: weddings and engagement sessions! Yippee! Cheers! -Kristine ...
Everybody Needs A Little Sun – {Wordless Wednesday}
The other day I was out on a session with a client and she spotted this little guy sunbathing. Who says humans are the only ones who sunbathe? :) {Sunbathing Squirrel} Cheers! -Kristine ...
